Mental Health Crisis Hotline Specialist, Second Shift

Position Overview

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a remote Mental Health Crisis Hotline Specialist to join the Maine Crisis Line Program team. The remote Mental Health Crisis Hotline Specialist works directly with callers experiencing a crisis to assess presenting problems and psychosocial stressors.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has worked in a customer service or call center role
  • Is interested in increasing their knowledge and skills surrounding mental health, including DSM-V information.
  • Has a background in counseling and/or related fields. This is highly preferred but not required.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and with a customer service mind-set to multiple parties during crisis call situations
  • Has project management experience
  • Has demonstrated technical proficiency and the ability to learn new software and resource applications, including telephone, instant messaging, and chat technology.
  • Based in Maine, with the ability to travel to the South Portland office for orientation.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required
  • At least one year of crisis-related experience is preferred.
  • MHRT-CSP (crisis services provider) certification or ability to achieve within 30 days of employment required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background, child protective service, and sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and debarment list.

About the Crisis Call Specialist, Per Diem (Relief) Position

  • Call Center Specialists complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of callers experiencing a crisis. 
  • The Call Center Specialist will work collaboratively with Crisis Response Services across the state to ensure effective systems monitoring and progress
  • Call Center Specialists receive training to become certified as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician from licensed clinical supervisors and certified in-house trainers in the State of Maine.
  • Schedule: This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position. Various schedules available;
    • Tue – Sat, or Sun - Thu
    • 1st Shift, 6:30a -2:30p
    • 2nd Shift, 2:30p 11:00p
  • Location: Office is located in South Portland, but the position can work remotely in Maine. In-person orientation will be required.
