Job Summary

TYLin is seeking an Associate to join our Transportation Planning team in Los Angeles. We are seeking a candidate to lead projects and support business development as part of a dynamic team that provides a range of planning services for clients, including comprehensive planning, transportation safety, multi-modal solutions, innovative mobility, and grant and strategic advisory. The Associate will be part of an interdisciplinary team of consultants (planning, data analytics, urban design, transportation engineering) and lead projects of a range of sizes both for public and private sector clients.

Ideal candidates will be solutions-focused, with the ability to contribute significantly to conceptual development, problem solving, and report writing, client-facing and articulate, with the ability to communicate persuasively and develop positive team dynamics; and have demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including the ability to understand and anticipate the larger client and business needs while successfully managing day-to-day project demands.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing leadership and direction to large-scale initiatives, including serving as Project Manager, Project Director, or Task Lead on a range of projects.
  • Serving as a knowledge leader to advise internal and external stakeholders on areas of expertise.
  • Project management and administrative tasks including management of project teams and subconsultants, budget and schedule management, invoicing, and follow-up on accounts receivable.
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports and developing presentations
  • Understanding and interpreting data analysis results to drive development of recommendations and solutions
  • Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and partners including large public agencies.
  • Leading and supporting business development efforts including strategic growth, marketing, sales, proposal development, shortlist interviews, industry networking, involvement in industry groups, conference attendance, and authoring thought leadership.
  • Providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area.
  • May supervise early level professionals and/or support employees.
  • Overseeing Quality Control/Quality Assurance processes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 10-12 years of experience in Transportation Planning or similar roles within the transportation industry, with a focus on safety practices, policy, data analysis, and roadway design.
  • Experience in the execution of Project Management responsibilities in independent organizational structure.
  • Experience managing transportation projects, including management of staff and budgets.
  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency data analysis and spreadsheet modeling tools
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
  • AICP and/or other relevant professional certifications are preferred.


 

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $117,300 - $175,900 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
