Job Description
The Sr. Director - Security & Safety leads the safety and security efforts for ALSAC including on-campus operations, off-campus events (including St. Jude Marathon, Walk/Run and gala events) and acting as a security advisor to remote offices on major regional events. They will lead a team of security professionals and maintain strong partnerships with the ALSAC Executive Leadership Team, St. Jude Security, and ALSAC’s Business Continuity, Employee Experience, Legal and Compliance departments.
Position Specifics:
- Lead, develop and support the ALSAC Security Operations team
- Responsible for timely and thorough investigations and cooperation with law enforcement on any potential safety and security incidents
- Partners with Compliance and Security Operations team to provide security training for ALSAC staff including recommendations on curriculum for all ALSAC employees to ensure employees are trained and that a safe environment is maintained, and all regulatory requirements are met.
- Ensures immediate communication of unusual events to ALSAC senior leadership and St. Jude Security and provides any assistance, as requested, for any campus‑wide risks in partnership with St. Jude Security
- Ensures timely and thorough investigations of ALSAC security events and develops appropriate responses
- Works with regional offices to evaluate regional events and ensures proper security measures are in place for major events
- Conducts risk assessments, makes recommendations and writes policies and procedures for building security, events and ensures compliance
- Liaison to St. Jude Security for ALSAC VIPs and ALSAC events on campus
- Provides templates and guidance for security protocols for major offsite ALSAC events.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Business Management or related field required. Master’s degree and certification as a Protection Professional by the American Society for Industrial Security is preferred
- High-level law enforcement experience with the FBI or equivalent (ATF, etc.) is a plus
- Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible security and operational management experience required; experience working with financial investigations preferred
- Ability to understand and make recommendations on security systems and processes
- Ability to solve problems and make independent decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to speak publicly to senior leadership and to train others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment
- Ability to deal effectively with and respond appropriately in highly stressful emergency situations
