We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Operations Projects Project Lead

Location: Venture Global Plaquemines Parish Liquefied Natural Gas (PLNG) facility in Point Celeste, Louisiana

General Description: 

The Operations Projects Project Lead reports to the Shutdown Turnaround Outage (STO) Director and is responsible for managing the Execution Resources required to complete Operations Project work at Venture Global Plaquemines Liquefied Natural Gas (PLNG) facility. The Operations Projects Project Lead is responsible for the oversight of all traditional Owner-side Construction Management functions; Directing all Brown-field contracts executed under a self-directed model (Scaffold, Insulation, heavy lift, single discipline Specialty Works, Vendor site support), and providing Owner field administration for all General Contracts. Focal points for the position will be:

  • An incident free environment, wherever Project works are carried out
  • An open and supportive culture in the field, encouraging input, collaboration, and intervention.
  •  Contractor compliance with all Facility, Design, and Regulatory Specifications and Standards 
  • Efficient Contractor performance relative to cost and schedule
  • Establishment and ownership of field communication workflows such as RFI, FWI, NCR, FCN, etc. which predominantly involve Contractors
  • Ownership of effectiveness of field communication workflows involving Facility Operations such as MOC, Permit Processes, PSSRs etc.
  • Clarity of technical communications to and from field contractors

Responsibilities: 

  • Manages Operations Project work execution according to Venture Global HSSE process and procedures, to prevent or mitigate exposures to unsafe work conditions or SIMOPS.
  • Manages Operations Project work execution according to VGIMS (Venture Global Integrity Management System), VGLNG Work Management and STO Management process and procedures.
  • Responsible in meeting VG STO Gate process deliverables under his area of responsibility.
  • Assures field communication of all conditions inherent to Management of Change within the operating facility.
  • Oversees contractor participation in the evolution of all execution schedules
  • Provides Subject Matter Expertise in the evolution of Construction schedule Logic, Test Plans and Site Safety Programs
  • Provides expert level contractor support for all special permit requirements (such as Line Breaks, Ground Breaks, Confined Space Entries, Critical Lifts, Critical System Defeats, Leading Edge/Work at Heights, and Positive entry control, etc.) which are very common in Turnarounds
  • Assures communication of all contactor ITPs, test notifications, and dossiers
  • Supervises coordination of daily schedule change and progress meetings, specifically assuring availability of essential stakeholders
  • Expedites the close out of field RFI and NCR
  • Expedites Contractor inputs to budget impacts caused by field change
  • Oversees Operations Project scope of work workshops under his area of responsibility.
  • Strictly adherence to VGLNG Business controls, assuring approved contracts/suppliers execute the field work represented in their contract.
  • Participates in contractor selection process
  • Participates in Contractor scope and schedule reviews
  • Endorses Contractor Timesheets
  • Continually audits Contractor field progress
  • Maintain a continuous awareness of ongoing contractor activities on all project work fronts.
  • Conducts multiple daily field surveys at all active work fronts
  • Regularly attends ‘Toolbox Talks’, offering expert input
  • Serves as “conflict resolution” interface between Contractors, Third parties and VG.
  • Communicates all field generated risk to Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost
  • Act as SME for continuous improvement/Lesson learned regarding field performance.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum a high school diploma or GED. Technical degree, Mechanical Trade or PMP certification – or similar is a plus.

Experience 

  • Minimum 10 (10+) years’ work experience in Construction Management (as Superintendent, Manager or Lead) in Oil and Gas, LNG or petrochemical facilities.  
  • Knowledge and experience in the different aspects of Greenfield Safety, Scheduling and communications. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledgeable in SAP Plant Maintenance as “End User” level.
  • Project Management PMP training or certification is a plus.
  • Familiar with Primavera Project Management P6, MS Project experience is a plus.
  • Experience in commissioning, startup, and maintenance of Oil & Gas or petrochemical facilities is preferred.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing

  • Provides mentoring and coaching to junior peers and counterparts.
