Job Description:

Position Overview

This position is responsible for front-end technical support to users and is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware, software, peripherals and data communication devices.  The Technician I may also coordinate administrative activities of the help desk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as initial contact for all internal and external customer technical support required for computer workstation hardware and software, network, operating system, printing, and Internet access problems.
  • Duties include answering the help desk phone, recording the call, first level corrective action, problem escalation to second level when necessary.
  • Performs installs, upgrades, moves, and changes for computer workstation hardware and software, printers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Documentation and record keeping of technology problems and requests, current inventory and maintenance contracts.  Assisting department supervisor in ordering technology hardware and software and processing electronic invoice files.

  • Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process
  • Works within clearly defined standard operations procedures and or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines
  • Works with close supervision

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Associate’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred
  • 0-2 years’ relevant experience required
