Senior Fixed Income Data Operations Business Analyst  

Location: Baltimore, MD

About the Role: 

We are looking for an experienced Fixed Income Analyst to enhance our business facing data operational team which is responsible for generating and delivering high quality security analytics and risk to our enterprise platform. You will support and manage the foundational data sets used by the Global Fixed Income Portfolio Management, Risk, Quant and Credit Research teams. You will be a hands-on analyst who understands Fixed Income portfolio and risk analytics and will help run best in class enterprise level solutions within our Fixed Income Front Office technology team. You will directly support the production Bloomberg PORT environment and T. Rowe Price (TRP) applications in this domain.

The Fixed Income Analytics team is responsible for the acquisition, validation, and delivery of analytics and benchmark data to the portfolio management team, as well as other internal and external clients. You will be expected to analyze and validate data from a variety of sources, including Bloomberg PORT. You will work closely with a variety of global investment business desks and technology teams daily.

Core Competencies and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to employ fact-based decision-making to resolve complex problems, by applying logic analysis, experience, and business knowledge.
  • Follow excellent operational practices with the team and stakeholders to ensure there is full transparency around our daily deliveries.
  • Support mission critical software and data to meet daily delivery SLAs.
  • Master and support several leading vendor provided applications.
  • Identify and take ownership of data quality/integrity issues, providing resolution recommendations after performing in-depth analysis. Handle operational issues from identification, communication, escalation, tactical resolution to establishing longer-term preventive measures.
  • Ensure the validity and accuracy of security-level analytics and risk exposures within the portfolio management systems and overseeing audit processes.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with software engineers, Portfolio and Risk Managers, Quants and Investment Analysts on a global basis and support their ongoing data requirements.
  • High energy, results-driven person with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility.
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to build working relationships and work effectively in a global organization.
  • Make independent/educated judgments regarding appropriate resolutions of data anomalies
  • Must be able to independently troubleshoot functional and/or quantitative problems.
  • Be a key member of teams comprised of representatives from various operational areas and participate in assessing and validating new systems and upgrades/enhancements.
  • Flexible and comfortable with evolving requirements in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Along with the responsibilities and competencies specified above, we are looking for an individual who possesses a positive, action-oriented attitude and understands the importance of taking initiative within a team environment.

  • 5+ years’ industry experience.
  • Strong academic record in Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar discipline.
  • Working knowledge of Fixed Income analytics and risk ideally on an industry standard vendor platform (i.e. Bloomberg PORT, FTSE/Citi Yield Book, IDC, Risk Metrics, etc.).
  • Operational and Business as Usual change experience.
  • Experience working with and analyzing data.
  • Technical data-tool skills such as SQL queries, Excel, Jupyter/Python.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing mission critical operational procedures and providing training to junior operations team members.
  • Demonstrated experience with various global Fixed Income instruments (e.g. bonds, derivatives, securitized, etc.) as well as working knowledge of portfolio accounting systems and various commercial market data and analytics tools.
  • General knowledge/awareness of macro financial markets and more specifically, the buy-side/asset management industry.
  • Hands on experience with Python for analysis and prototyping.
  • Working with in-house developed platforms and engineering teams.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.
