Summary:


Almanac is seeking Associate candidates for its investment team. The Associate will assist with all aspects of the implementation and management of Almanac’s investment strategy.

Almanac deal teams retain responsibility for each portfolio company throughout the life of the investment. This approach will allow the Associate to gain exposure to all aspects of the deal life cycle, from structuring and executing new transactions to eventual redemption of Almanac’s securities.

Almanac’s differentiated strategy of making platform-level investments in real estate companies will require the Associate to assess valuations, business plans, and transaction rationale at the property level as well as build financial models to illustrate various corporate finance structures.

This position provides an opportunity to work with a leading real estate private equity platform with constant interaction with senior members of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth analyses on real estate assets, management companies, sectors, and securities in both the public and private markets with an eye to evaluating investment decisions

  • Build 3-statement financial models that aggregate real estate portfolio cash flows into a corporate model according to varying corporate finance structures

  • Participate in meetings with the investment committee, boards of directors of portfolio companies, fund investors, and other senior executives

  • Prepare internal and external memoranda

  • Conduct due diligence on new investments

  • Manage relationships with contacts at portfolio companies

  • Support fund marketing, client requests, or fund modeling analyses

Qualifications:

  • Candidates with 2-4 years of work experience from a top-tier investment bank in a related field or buy-side investment firm focused on real estate

  • Excellent quantitative abilities and understanding of corporate finance, accounting, real estate underwriting, financial modeling, and valuation

  • Outstanding fundamental analytical skills including LBO/M&A financial modeling proficiency

  • Strong judgment, critical thinking, and writing skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form

  • Ability to show initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving; demonstrated experience conducting research and interacting with others to develop solutions

  • Analytical and detail-oriented individual with a great work ethic, deep intellectual curiosity, affable and humble personality

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $125,000-$150,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
