This Opportunity   

We are looking for a contractor in the healthcare space who has a concrete & proven experience in data research, in areas such as data curation, database modeling / querying, statistics, data science or academic research. The core aspect of this role is writing the annotation guidelines, annotation of clinical notes - in order to make it easier for software, analytics & data science teams to train natural language processing models. The role requires a minimum of 35 hours of work per week. 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Write comprehensive documentation, including user guides, and other artifacts to enhance understanding of the data and its implications.
  • Communicate gaps in annotation guidelines, edge cases, and suggestions for improvement of the data research and annotation project for the whole team.
  • Define and implement normalization processes of data from structured and unstructured formats to ensure that they are represented in a standard and comparable format.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, researchers, product managers) to deliver continuous improvements in the data pipeline process.
  • Stay up-to-date with standards, industry trends and changes, proactively identifying opportunities to improve data quality and deliver outstanding products that will empower clinical researchers.
  • Define and maintain the Truveta Data Model according to industry standards and real-world healthcare data, ensuring that all data is accurate, consistent, and intuitive. 

Key Qualifications

  • Clinical degree and active US licensure (MD, DO) required.
  • Prior experience in clinical informatics, health information technology, or a similar field. 
  • Proficient understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED, RxNorm) and technology. 
  • Experience in working with clinical ontologies (SNOMED, RxNorm, ICD-10, LOINC, etc...) and health interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, USCDI) preferred.
  • Familiarity with common data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the capacity to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter attitude with a willingness to take initiative and continuously drive improvements.

The hourly rate for this position is $65-75. The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target. Pay is based on several factors including location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional compensation such as incentive pay and stock options.
