Who you will do:

In PGIM Global Services (PGS) team, our technology team is working in a fast-paced environment as we implement the new PGIM Tech & Data strategy using Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Power Platform.

We are looking for an experienced Director of Development Operations to work alongside our business technology teams, our platform development team and the enterprise technology & data (T&D) with a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Fabric technology, Power Platform, and Azure services who can develop operational processes including runbooks to support the Production environment. Our ideal candidate will have proven experience providing production support to modern platforms and demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities with an aptitude for driving innovation and efficiency.

This role is based in our office in Newark, NJ or Tampa, FL. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely and/from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. This position is hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring weekly basis 2-3 days per week.

What you can expect:

  • Oversee the Production Support operations and optimization of Microsoft Fabric platform, focusing on capacity monitoring and utilization of Fabric capacity metrics, ensuring reliable workflows for data ingestion, processing, and analytics.
  • Define roles & responsibilities, service levels objectives (SLO), and error-budgeting with PGS and other stakeholders for production support
  • Drive operational excellence through incident management, root cause analysis, and preventive strategies.
  • Establish monitoring frameworks and implement advanced alerting mechanisms to ensure platform reliability and proactive issue resolution across the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem in alignment with observability best practices.
  • Optimize Azure services for scalability, security, and performance in alignment with operational objectives.
  • Manage/enhance power apps solutions to support business processes & data interaction needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement DevOps practices, including automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure seamless data ingestion and integration using connectors for on-premises databases such as Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Enable/manage S3 shortcuts within Microsoft Fabric to streamline data access and integration.
  • Integrate and manage Azure AI services for diverse use cases and other intelligent applications within the Fabric platform.
  • Optimize Azure services, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and AI tools, for secure and scalable platform operations.
  • Align platform capabilities, including Power Apps and Azure services, with evolving business requirements.
  • Develop and document best practices, operational guidelines, and runbooks for Fabric and associated technologies for the service desk.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives, including data governance, compliance and performance optimization.
  • Use tools like Dynatrace to monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure proactive operational management.
  • Design and implement robust capacity monitoring frameworks, align platform usage with business and technical deployments.
  • Utilize Jira Servicedesk and Opsgenie for effective incident response and management, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid resolution.

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in platform operations/production support in the financial services industry with good knowledge on Power Platform and Azure services like Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure App functions, Key vault, Azure monitor, Azure Event Hubs, Azure storage account, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in Microsoft Fabric capacity monitoring, interpreting Fabric capacity metrics, Power Apps for building workflows and enhance platform usability and functionality
  • Strong knowledge of Azure AI services for use cases and Azure OpenAI, machine learning integration, and intelligent automation.
  • Proficiency in Dynatrace for system monitoring, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and ticketing applications, e.g., Jira Servicedesk, ServiceNow, Opsgenie, etc.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipeline automation for efficient operations.
  • Knowledge on cloud migrations, particularly transitioning from on-premises to Azure or Microsoft Fabrics.
  • Experience implementing data lineage, governance, and ensuring data integrity within enterprise platforms
  • Passion for leveraging AI, observability tools, and automation to optimize platform performance and reliability.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring platform teams, fostering innovation.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, influencing, and collaboration skills to engage and work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate production issues and resolutions to senior leaders; instituting new processes or procedures to gain efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Experience in resolving escalations, removing roadblocks or conflicts for the team.

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $160,000 to $195,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
