Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining La-Z-Boy’s standard of quality by providing comprehensive training for current and new furniture building techniques. Lead and coach a cell team into maintaining high efficiency and cell processes.

Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for set up and maintaining all areas of assembly skills. • Collaborate with cell coaches to identify training needs and develop appropriate modification if needed. • Demonstrate building techniques. • Monitor and ensure team members are performing their responsibilities according to the training schedule • Provide support and mentoring for new employees while training and identify sections where improvements are needed • Knowledge about La-Z-Boy quality standards; basic understanding of inspector certification requirements; inspects units built by trainees. • Maintains reports to evaluate trainee progress and document proficiencies. • Maintain part integrity and attributes during assembly process. • Interpret blueprints, implement engineering changes, and introduce new parts. • Highly effective in in house production systems and Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) • Highly effective in cell balancing, by understanding cross-training team members. • Highly proficient in Kan-Ban process and 5S • Effectively communicating process and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities • Work together with team members to get the job done • Excellent organizational skills • Follow health and safety standards. • Maintain a clean work area. JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the above duties. • Safety conscious • Excellent attendance; 2 points or less. • Physically able to complete all assigned tasks • Ability to lift 50 pounds. • Ability to troubleshoot quality issues • Ability to communicate, take direction at all levels, and turn it into action Preferred Requirements: • Bilingual • Two years’ experience with La-Z-Boy working in direct furniture production SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None, to occasionally assisting in a lead capacity OUR PURPOSE: We are La-Z-Boy Incorporated.
