What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for the integration of policy and executional activities for all imports and exports in support of the entire Amgen organization. You will provide program oversight for trade compliance establish controls and global standards for regional execution.

  • Partner internally and externally to manage inbound/outbound customs transactions by liaising with internal and external requestors, Amgen transportation team, brokers, and government agencies.
  • Provide expertise and advise on international Customs and Other Government Agency (OGA) import/export requirements.
  • Determine commodity classification for transactions.
  • Review shipping documentation and customs invoices for accuracy including valuation, commodity classification, and country of origin.
  • Provide support for obtaining applicable shipment permits and licenses.
  • Resolve transaction issues including response to Customs/OGA inquiries and delays.
  • Effectively liaise with government agencies, as required.
  • Collect and report on key transactional performance metrics.
  • Support the establishment, documentation and periodic update of trade compliance processes and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 6 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
  • Master’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing customs transactions
  • Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization Regulations
  • Customs certifications or Licensed Custom Broker designation (where applicable)
  • Versed in key import/export processes including valuation, commodity classification, country of origin determination.
  • Ability to build working relationships and effectively partner cross-functionally/cross-regionally and at all levels in the organization.
  • Awareness of industry trends and developments in biopharmaceutical industry as it relates to customs requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration and executive presentation skills
  • Experience or education in international trade law.
  • Initiator with analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
