Global Finance Services (GFS) is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.
About the Department
Our Purchase to Pay (P2P) team within GFS is responsible handles the end to end acquiring goods and services ensuring that the associated payments made to our suppliers, this includes overseeing the procurement process management, invoice processing, payment processing, suppliers’ relationship management, reimbursing expenses to employees, and ensuring all the procurement activities align with internal policies and compliance.
The Senior Team Lead (STL) is responsible for PMO execution, governance management, and P2P subject‑matter support across P2P transformation and improvement initiatives. The STL acts as the day‑to‑day PMO anchor and P2P SME, enabling Manager to focus on strategy, portfolio value, and senior stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
PMO Execution & Delivery Management
Lead and champion continuous improvement and Digital COE initiatives across KL P2P and T&E team, consistently applying a digitalization and automation mindset alongside deep knowledge in process improvement methodologies (i.e., LEAN SIX SIGMA)
Proactively identify and assess strategic improvement opportunities, both quantitative and qualitative, to improve standardisation and simplification.
Take full ownership and accountability for the end-to-end project management lifecycle of KL P2P and T&E continuous improvement and project which included develop change impact assessment and project plan, tracking key Risks, Actions, Incidences and Dependencies (RAID), monitor project progress and closeout project summarizing achievements & lesson learned.
P2P Process & PMO Governance
Enforce global P2P process standards, policies, and control requirements across all assigned initiatives
Ensure process changes comply with approved P2P governance, control frameworks, and design principles
Maintain oversight of process risks, control impacts, and dependencies arising from initiatives
Actively challenge non‑standard or non‑compliant process design or execution
P2P Subject Matter Expertise (SME)
Act as a P2P process SME supporting projects, improvements, and transformations
Translate end‑to‑end P2P process knowledge into clear requirements, impacts, and delivery inputs
Provide expert input on P2P implications across systems, controls, and operations
Support interpretation and local application of global P2P strategies and changes
Serve as a reference point for P2P process clarifications during execution
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
Act as a coordination point between P2P operations, strategy & transformation teams, IT, and global process owners
Communicate process risks, impacts, and decisions clearly to stakeholders
Support change discussions by articulating P2P process and control implications accurately
Ensure alignment between local execution and global P2P direction
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Degree in finance, accounting or business administration, or equivalent professional qualification.
Possess at least 6 years of progressive experience in accounts payable process or finance operations, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and project delivery.
Proven track record of successfully leading and delivery complex projects from inception to completion.
Relevant project management certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) are highly preferred.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and articulate complex information to senior management.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
Extensive working experience in a shared service centre across a global /large organization will be an added advantage.
Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, and SAP or other ERP systems.
Solid understanding and ability to leverage digital tools and automation concepts (e.g. Python, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps, VBA and other related automation or data analysis platforms) to drive continuous improvement and project outcomes.
Familiarity with platforms such as Coupa, Kofax or Celonis would be an added advantage.
Inquisitive, investigative with critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work globally across time zones and cultures, with a proactive and adaptable approach.
