About the Role

The primary role of Internal Audit is to assist the Board, the Board/ Local Audit Committee and executive management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the Group. Group Internal Audit (GIA) mission is to provide independent and objective assessment and reporting of the overall efficiency of risk management, internal controls and governance processes across the Group and appropriately challenge executive management to improve the efficiency of these processes. GIA also advises business on ways of improving the business capacity in handling risk.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Internal Audit to deliver the audit plan, mentor the audit team and drive the audit process improvement
  • Engage business functions for the audit activities, lead communications and build up a strong and positive relationship with the business functions
  • Forge working relationship with other internal assurance providers, governance and control functions, risk and compliance, and external auditor to understand regulatory developments and impact to audit plan, and to leverage work performed
  • Co-ordinate with group audit teams on subject matter expertise support and group-level audit engagements as needed.
  • Advise business functions for the implementation of an effective and efficient system of internal control
  • Identify key risks of the business, respond to the emerging risks and communicate potential issues to management and the Audit Committee
  • Lead the annual audit planning process, and develop a risk-based audit plan.
  • Handle, lead and implement audits in accordance with the GIA Standards. Lead special projects and investigations as and when required
  • Review the work of the team members. Review the audit reports and working papers documentation for compliance with the GIA standards

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • University graduate with at least 12 years of relevant audit experience in the insurance, financial or a related industry
  • Proven experience and knowledge in legal, risk and compliance areas.
  • Detailed understanding of life insurance operations, industry practices and legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation and team member leadership skills
  • Proven experience in creating reports, summaries and presentations and handling communication with stakeholders such as Governance and Control functions, Risk and Compliance, as well as Group and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge with audit tools and other software such as TeamMate, ACL (data analytic tools).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet achievements within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and be a strong teammate with dedication to quality and strong execution
