What is the role?

You will be working closely with the Director of Women’s Football, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Revenue Officer, and their teams to develop and implement the business strategy for Southampton Girls and Women’s Football Club (SGWFC).

What will you be doing?

You will develop and deliver a transformative and sustainable business strategy and vision for women's football at the Club, including identifying objectives, measuring progress and collaborating with other internal business departments. Additionally, you will prepare business plans, reports, and budgets, ensuring you evaluate them closely throughout the season, along with working with the Director of Women’s Football to plan the overall budget strategy and take accountability for ensuring revenue and business targets are set and achieved in line with agreed frameworks.

Furthermore, you will be working with the Commercial Team to create a commercial strategy for SGWFC, promoting the club to increase fan engagement, attendance, and revenue. Working with Southampton Football Club’s (SFC) Partnership’s Team you will work to develop and maintain relationships with new and existing sponsors to generate income along with hosting sponsors and other guests at Women’s First Team games.

Working with the Director of Women’s Football and General Counsel you will lead on the development of processes around players contracts, registrations, and recording of agent agreements for all players. You will also work with the General Counsel to establish suitable processes to cover all compliance and audit requirements across the club.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the Girls and Women’s operational function, ensuring it’s aligned both with SGWFC and the wider SFC operational teams.
  • Identifying international development opportunities and potential new markets.
  • Work with SFC’s Head of Football Content and their team to develop and manage an internal and external communications strategy.
  • Attend FA or League operational meetings on behalf of SGWFC.
  • May be required to deputise for the CEO or COO and attend FA / League meetings including working with the WPLL.
  • Oversee and lead on all audits, governance and compliance along with ensuring the Club meets all licensing requirements including salary caps or any sustainable business measures.
  • Ensure the Club adheres to the FA Safeguarding children standards and best practice at all times (with support from the Safeguarding Officer).
  • Collaborate with Director of Women’s Football in terms of overall staffing structures, culture and strategy.
  • Lead the development of suitable staff training and effective performance management processes.

We are looking for someone with experience in operating in a business or sporting leadership position who has the ability to work strategically with internal and external partners to deliver key objectives. The ideal candidate should so have experience of budgeting and financial reporting and the ability to drive ongoing improvement.
