Job Description

Position Overview

As the Planning Manager at AirAsia X, you will oversee and optimize the maintenance planning and control system for the company's aircraft, engines, components, and associated equipment. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted in a timely, economical, and regulatory-compliant manner. You will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure the seamless execution of maintenance tasks and uphold the highest standards of airworthiness and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning and Control:

  • Develop and maintain an effective maintenance planning and control system.

  • Ensure maintenance schedules comply with company, manufacturer, and CAA of Malaysia requirements.

  • Produce short, mid, and long-term maintenance forecasts for the aircraft fleet, engines, components, and associated equipment.

  • Coordinate with the AirAsia X Part 145 Manager for line checks and deferred defect monitoring.

Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other airworthiness requirements are scheduled and complied with promptly.

  • Conduct work scopes, prepare work packages, and determine resource requirements for line and hangar maintenance.

  • Manage production control functions and prepare maintenance documentation.

  • Respond to quality non-conformances promptly and implement corrective actions from quality audit findings.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate with contracted maintenance organizations to prepare maintenance checks and work input.

  • Assist the Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM) on policy matters and the effective functioning of the department.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and provide necessary training for subordinates to equip them with essential skills and knowledge.

  • Maintain records of all training, qualifications, and experience of planning personnel.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Produce budgetary forecasts for planning activities.

  • Manage, safeguard, update, and review the Planning Department Manual and Engineering Procedures Manual Volume 4.

  • In the prolonged absence of the Planning Manager for more than 21 days, the Senior Planning Executive will assume the manager's role.

  • Undertake any other tasks directed by the CAM.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Aircraft Maintenance Planning with an airline or Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organization.

  • Possess a Malaysian Maintenance Engineers License in any system or a recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Administration or Engineering.

  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning and control systems.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Proficient in producing maintenance forecasts and coordinating maintenance activities.

  • Ability to manage regulatory compliance and documentation effectively.

  • Skilled in identifying training needs and providing appropriate training.

  • Experience in budgeting and resource management.
