Job Description:

This role is a contract role for 12 months

About the Role:

Sun Life’s Physical Security & Crisis Management department is looking for a Physical Risk and Governance Analyst for a 12-month term. Our department manages a best-in-class corporate physical risk management and asset protection program, safeguarding Sun Life’s people and operations worldwide. Our dynamic group of professionals delivers effective oversight, assessment, consulting, and support services in enterprise physical risk management.

This includes global incident monitoring and crisis response, physical security systems and technology, travel risk, enhanced personnel protection, as well as occupational health & safety. The role reports to the Manager, Physical Risk & Governance, and is focused on department governance, the enterprise physical risk program and policy development.

What you will do:

As a Physical Risk and Governance Analyst you will:

  • Advance the department’s physical risk management policy and operating guidelines program.
  • Consult on opportunities and methods to develop and strengthen key processes.
  • Identify and promote department collaboration opportunities that enhance our delivery of asset protection services.
  • Research and prepare briefs on physical risk management governance, policy, and best practices.
  • Train colleagues and educate internal partners on policy, operating guidelines, and key processes.
  • Support other department governance activities including employee course development as well as policy & compliance control development and coordination.
  • Assist in the development of a wholistic enterprise risk management approach to physical risk management.
  • Support physical risk and governance activities related to operational risk management.
  • Champion the company’s continuous improvement program and guide colleague participation.

What you need to succeed:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a policy, governance, regulatory, legal, or related role, preferably within a corporate or government organization of comparable size and complexity to Sun Life.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Related experience in an insurance or financial corporation is an asset.
  • Superior organizational skills and managing the impacts of competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong service-oriented written and verbal communication skills.
  • Diligent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working autonomously at times and taking the initiative in an increasingly Agile work environment.
  • Collaborate well within a diverse workforce, and with a wide variety of internal departments as well as government partners.
  • Demonstrate a high ethical regard and accountability.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
