The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a Structural Fatigue Engineer to support the NAVSEA Structures and Composite Division, which focuses on the structural development and testing of surface craft and submarines. This position is based in Bethesda, Maryland. Must currently hold or be able to attain U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (Minimum). (US Citizenship is required in order to obtain a security clearance from the DoD.)

Responsibilities:

As the Structural Fatigue Engineer, you will be the driving force behind designing laboratory test solutions for structural fatigue and fracture analyses. This includes designing, although not always performing, experiments and determining the best way to collect and analyze experimental data. In this role, you will be working across multiple functional teams where complex problem-solving and communication skills are critical to success.

  • Develop engineering solutions to fatigue and fracture, and structural strength design and analysis problems.

  • Lead and project manage large scale structural laboratory test efforts.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced personnel.

  • Collaborate with senior personnel to develop project proposals and participate in technical knowledge management.

  • Maintain network of contacts both inside and outside the organization for technical collaboration, information, and funding sources.


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering and/or fatigue analysis.

  • Must currently hold or be able to attain U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (Minimum). (US Citizenship is required in order to obtain a security clearance from the DoD.)

  • Ability to come on-site 2 days a week and/or as needed.

  • Basic understanding of fatigue and fracture mechanics.

  • Experience performing structural laboratory testing.

  • Ability to develop structural laboratory test plans and procedures.

  • Understanding of hydraulic and electronic control systems, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.

  • Basic experience performing data analysis using laboratory measurements.

  • Ability to communicate technical and programmatic information to various personnel including junior and senior engineers, laboratory technicians, management, sponsors, and customers.

  • Ability to provide direction and instruction to various personnel including junior engineers and laboratory technicians.

  • Ability to follow/understand standards and codes for design.

  • Familiarity with design/fabrication/fatigue & fracture mechanics in different materials (metals, composites, etc.).

  • Knowledge in detail design and fabrication methods.

Desired:

  • Advanced knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics.

  • Experience with large-scale laboratory testing programs.

  • Advanced experience developing engineering design guidelines using laboratory measurements.

  • Knowledge in detail design and fabrication methods specifically for ship.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$66,100 - $135,600
