About Team: 
Enterprise Business Services - People Tech - People.Data 

This position is in the data engineering team of People.Data under the Enterprise Business Services – People Tech organisation. The objective of the People tech organization is to build the best-in-class engineering, analytics and data science solutions that power the best experience for our people, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost. 



What you'll do:

People Data team is responsible to build and maintain People Data Lake platform and other analytical products to democratize access to People/HR data , enabling tech teams and business users across Walmart with relevant, complete, accurate and timely data by streamlining acquisition, curation and consumption of data from various HR systems . Our Team also builds and supports multiple use-cases on top of the Data lake platform that focus on embedding analytical capabilities and recommendations into the organisation’s decision-making processes and workflows thereby increasing both the accessibility and actionability of people analytics.
 

You will have numerous opportunities to collaborate with  

  • Product managers to design user journeys, feedback loop and analyse user telemetry.  
  • Data architects to design, architect, and build resilient , scalable , maintainable  distributed data pipelines. 
  • Platform Product managers to develop technology strategies to advance our data management practices and stay abreast of the industry trends. 
  • Data Scientists and Machine learning engineers to help deploy, operate, and optimise scalable AL/ML solutions 
  • Technical Program Managers in developing and executing technical business programs of strategic importance to Walmart people data. 

What you'll bring:

  • Data Engineering , Cloud, Big Data Skills, Spark, Airflow. Python, Scala 
  • Expertise in Big Data Ecosystem tools : Hadoop, Hive, Apache Spark, Kafka, Druid, NoSQL DB’s etc. 
  • Experience Building Batch ETL distributed data pipelines - with expertise in  Hive/SQL, Apache Spark (Scala) or PySpark 
  • Experience in building Streaming data pipelines with Kafka, Spark Streaming etc. 
  • Experience working with Open-source frameworks that manages the storage of large datasets on distributed file systems (Apache Hudi,Deltalake) 
  • Experience working with Data Orchestration/workflow management tools such as Airflow 
  • Solid Cloud Development experience (on GCP or Azure) 
  • Proven experience in building Data quality frameworks and working with Data Governance solutions. 
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing and Data Engineering best practices with experience implementing CI/CD, Log aggregation/Monitoring/alerting automations for production system.
