This New Homes Warranty Intern will assist the Warranty Manager and Assistant Warranty Manager in supporting Van Metre’s new home warranty program within our communities. The primary goal of this position is to provide hands-on learning opportunities within the homebuilding industry while contributing to an exceptional customer experience for homeowners. The intern will develop skills in customer service, warranty management, and collaboration with trade partners, homeowners, and internal teams. Upon successful completion of this internship, candidates may be offered the opportunity to join the Warranty Team as an Assistant Warranty Manager.  

This is a fully in-person position requiring a candidate to be local to the Ashburn, VA area

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete and present a Capstone project to be determined upon starting the internship.
  • Support the Warranty Manager and Assistant Warranty Manager in ensuring all warranty-related needs of assigned communities are met.
  • Act as a Van Metre presence within communities during business hours to assist homeowners and team members.
  • Learn to manage and document homeowner warranty tickets, including resolution timelines and outcomes.
  • Participate in meeting departmental KPIs, including:
    • Ticket cycle time
    • Customer satisfaction
    • Budget tracking and documentation
  • Attend and support homeowner Reveals within assigned communities.
  • Shadow the Warranty Manager to develop skills in evaluating warranty item concerns, identifying root causes, and determining coverage applicability.
  • Assist in scheduling and overseeing trade partner efforts for warranty item resolution.
  • Provide detailed documentation of warranty activities using mobile devices and company software (HubSpot, apps, and other tools).
  • Engage proactively with homeowners to ensure resolution of concerns.
  • Complete assigned portions of Van Metre’s Warranty Training Program.
  • Continue learning warranty processes, systems, and standards throughout the internship.
  • Engage with and learn about other Van Metre Departments and Teams.

Qualifications: 

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s program OR equivalent experience in construction, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Interest in customer service, homebuilding, or construction-related fields.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn CRM tools and apps.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Van Metre's Summer 2025 Internship Program is an 8-week program in which Interns get the opportunity to hone the skills in their field but also learn about our business. The Program starts the first week in June 2025 and runs through early August. Interns will attend trainings and planned sessions with Executives from every team, learning about every aspect of a product, from inception to completion, sale, and management. The goal is to assist in your quest to become a well-rounded individual, just like our company is! 

Compensation Information:

  • Salary: $15.00/hr
