The Opportunity   
      

Join our dynamic Valuation team at Resolution Life Australasia, where you’ll take on the primary end-to-end responsibility for financial reporting activities. In this role, you’ll assist with delivering monthly and quarterly profit analyses, policy liabilities, and shareholder capital requirement calculations. You’ll also enhance actuarial valuation processes, ensuring they are efficient and reflect all product and pricing changes.
 

Your contributions will provide robust financial and risk information, strategic insights, and strengthen risk management and internal controls within the actuarial function. We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with a solid understanding of actuarial principles, who can adapt to changing circumstances, work under pressure, and communicate effectively.

This role offers a full-time permanent contract and embraces flexible working arrangements. You'll have the freedom to work remotely, with occasional office attendance required on an ad hoc basis, ensuring a harmonious balance between business needs and personal flexibility.
 

Your Story

  • Assist with the delivery of monthly/quarterly profit, including analysis of variances to plan and analysis of change by source.
  • Assis with the delivery of policy liabilities and inputs to the shareholder capital requirement calculations, as disclosed in Statutory / Life Act reports, and financial condition investigations required by the Appointed Actuary
  • Maintenance and enhancement of current actuarial valuation processes considering speed, quality, simplicity and ensuring they reflect all product and pricing changes
  • Ensure delivery of robust financial and risk information and strategic insights to the businesses
  • Documentation of process/enhancements
  • Strengthening the areas of risk management and internal controls within the actuarial function.
    An understanding of actuarial principles, standards, processes and operations
  • Adaptable and flexible attitude to cope with competing priorities whilst working to tight timeframes.
  • Responds positively to changing circumstances. A desire to be part of changing business and the demands of such as business.
  • Self-motivated individual with a desire to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate concisely, but in a clear and effective way, both verbally and in writing
     

Ideal Experience

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to develop logical solutions to new problems.
  • Good understanding of the actuarial aspect of Life Insurance Act 1995, APRA Prudential Standards and related regulations.
  • Good understanding of IFRS17 accounting standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work proactively with a strong use of initiative.
  • Technical capability / knowledge of Australian and New Zealand actuarial financial reporting and capital standards and economic valuation practice is advantageous.
  • Strong actuarial modelling and Microsoft Excel Skills.
