This position is responsible for the financial management of certain firm facing functional areas. Oversees the financial statement, general ledger, financial analysis, and ad hoc management reports for certain FCS functions. Partners with those FCS leaders to develop FTE and operating expense forecasts that align with the financial foundations. Work with those FCS leaders throughout the year to ensure that the actual costs are aligned with the forecasts and the benchmarks.

Essential Duties

Accounting Operations duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the accounting function for the FCS groups that they support. This may include but is not limited to the monthly close process, journal entry review and monthly reconciliation activities, as well as approving accounts payable entries and expense report reviews. All to be completed in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP and Firm policies and processes.

Reporting & Analysis duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees financial analysis for the FCS functional leaders and their teams. Analytics will focus on FTE’s as well as the operating expense GL’s that each functional area is responsible for.
  • Prepares and/or coordinates ad hoc reports, specialized projects and analysis as requested by leadership.

Leadership duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership in the creation, interpretation and communication of financial results to key stakeholders, ensuring leaders have appropriate access to information needed to effectively manage the business.
  • Acts as a financial advisor to the various FCS leaders by understanding their respective business and providing insightful and value-added analysis of financial results. Advises leaders on initiatives to affect profitability, cost savings and other financial management strategies.
  • Regular meetings with the FCS leaders and other key stakeholders to assist them in effectively managing the financial aspects of the business.

Forecasting & Analysis duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Partners with the FCS leaders that they support and their teams to develop FTE and operating expense forecasts that meet established firmwide goals.
  • Works closely with the FCS leaders that they support and other key stakeholders to assist in the execution of forecast commitments. Provides analysis of monthly financial results to leadership including the interpretation of current month and year-to-date performance as a predictive tool for attainment of full year performance expectations and plans to implement course corrections as necessary.
  • Reviews capital purchase budgets and monitors monthly purchases against plan.

Employee supervisory duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides effective leadership to employees and/or teams by providing work direction. Plans appropriate staffing levels which may include interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Communicates performance expectations, provides feedback on performance and assists employees with career growth. Provides recognition, coaching, employee counseling and/or employee development plans.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Accounting or Finance major – Strongly Preferred
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience – Required
  • Professional services experience – Strongly Preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of employees including senior leadership
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders, building collaborative relationships while managing conflicting priorities
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including P&L and balance Sheet
  • Ability to work in a large, complex, dynamic organization where a high degree of change exists
  • Strong communication, prioritization and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $122,800 - $217,300

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
