We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join the development team, to implement the next generation of features for the application as well as support existing platform. The role offers extensive business and technical challenges in a highly dynamic and collaborative work environment and an opportunity to mentor junior team members.

Corporate Action platform uses various complex business rules to produce high quality data and processed in high volume with strict SLAs for delivery of data. Application uses core technologies like Java, Oracle, Springboot, ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka, ElasticSearch, RestFul APIs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Partner with teams to create an overall delivery strategy.
  • Build, develop and guide high-performing talent to guide their growth path
  • Drive high-level and detailed technical designs; conduct design and code reviews as needed.
  • Drive consistent development practices including the use of common tools, enterprise frameworks, and common components.
  • Guide team members in implementing new, highly available, scalable, resilient applications.
  • Enable integrated teams to deliver technology solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product managers, technical project managers, architects, and engineers.
  • Drive projects for Estimation, Planning and Tracking and throughout SDLC phases.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders within business and technology teams to drive the change required to execute product roadmaps.
  • Regularly interact across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met.
  • Customer Focus: Build positive and productive working relationships with customers by delivering client priorities with high quality to enable business growth.
  • Create and maintain a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and focus on delivering excellence, quality and value for the customer and business.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 15+ years’ experience in building applications using Java & Spring platform with expert level java coding experience including 4+ years in a management/leadership position.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization, and in a variety of contexts.
  • Significant hands-on experience on designing scalable robust applications.
  • Has experience mentoring, leading a team
  • Ability to work in team-oriented environment and can work independently.
  • Strong experience in relational Databases like Oracle, designing normalized or de-normalized database, writing SQL queries & stored procedures and analysing & fixing performance issues.
  • Experience in profiling an application to troubleshoot issues, monitoring system performance (CPU, memory, processes, threads, network etc.) is a plus
  • Experience in Spring Integration framework, RESTful services, Spring Batch, Spring REST, Spring framework, Spring Boot,
  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development and ability to write units tests leveraging frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, JMock etc. for extensive unit-testing
  • Experience with build & release tools like Maven and Continuous Integration like Jenkins
  • Proficient in Agile development methodology

Management Requirements:

  • Strong inter-personal skills required with ability to multitask and prioritize work

Commercial awareness:

  • Basic understanding of Financial Markets desirable.
