GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The Director of Diversity, Equity and Belonging has responsibility to provide the necessary planning, structure, leadership and direction for the full execution for a campus-wide diversity program. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Human Resources, they are also responsible for developing a campus-wide approach to enhancing excellence through diversity and inclusion of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. The Director will help to create an organizational culture that sets clear expectations, provides appropriate support, and engenders respect and dignity at all levels of the organization, in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Belonging at Systems Office.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides vision, leadership, management, and strategic planning for inclusion and equity initiatives across campus.
• Assesses campus needs relating to diversity, equity, belonging, and engagement.
• May Chair or serve as Ex-Officio Officer to the Campus Diversity Committee comprised of faculty, staff, alumni, community residents and students. (African American Student Retention, Research/Assessment, Events/Communications, and Human Resources)
• Prepares reports for presentation to senior leadership and the Campus Board of Trustees.
• Knows how to obtain key college and community data and understand how to interpret data relating to diversity, equity and belonging. Work collaboratively with the campus Director of Institutional Research/Registrar.
• Develops, implements and monitors trainings, professional development and educational programs for faculty, staff and students that promote and sustain diversity, equity and belonging
• Represents the College at various community, civic, professional meetings, and conferences, as requested.
• Serves as a liaison for individuals who have specific issues related to inclusion and equity and works with internal channels to address issues of bias, equity and/or belonging.
• Instills and monitors campus-wide initiatives and organizational structures that facilitate inclusion and equity.
• Assesses productivity and success of programs, policies, and services
• Partners with Marketing to provide consistent message to the College community on diversity-related issues to advance the mission of the College. Plan and coordinate the creation of an HR Newsletter.

Human Resources
• Assists Human Resources with employee recruitment and retention, Affirmative Action and other Equal Employment Opportunity programs and initiatives.
• Develop and execute a target number of programs per quarter for faculty and staff.
• Monitor and manage search and interview committee selections ensuring participants have completed the Mitigating Bias Training. Assign training where needed.
• As part of the HR team, participate on interviews on a rotational basis.
• As a team, review and propose interview questions for various campus openings.
• In partnership with the EDHR, create a strategy and communication plan for recruiting diverse applicants for current and future open positions.
• In partnership with the EDHR, conduct internal investigations surrounding discrimination and/or harassment.

Student Life and Engagement
• Develop and execute a target number of programs per quarter for students and alumni.
• Conduct regular meetings with Director of Student life to discuss any red-flags as they relate to our cultural organizations (Black Student Union, Latino Student Union, Women Empowering Women,
• Collaborate with Office of Student Life to plan and implement culturally responsive programming in order to create a sense of community and belonging yielding higher retention.
• Develop clubs, programming, and/or experiences focused on leadership for historically underrepresented groups.
• Work in conjunction with the Office of Student Life to provide a committee to review student reported biases.
• Provide training opportunities for Lake County students centered around mitigating biases, identifying one’s privilege, and other anti-racism topics to ensure an inclusive and accepting campus environment.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards.

Pay Range $62,000-$67,000

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree Required
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships through community outreach and engagement.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Experience working with diverse community groups
• Ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
• Must demonstrate creativity and be able to work collaboratively with various college constituents.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Community college experience a plus.
• Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 3 years of related experience in diversity programming.
• Experience with equal employment/affirmative action
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in budget development and management, negotiation, and teambuilding.
