We are seeking an Analyst to join our External Managers Group (XMG). This role requires an interest and passion for the markets, and strong quantitative skills to accurately analyse portfolio risk exposures and strategy performance.
Who you’ll work with
The External Managers Group consists of diverse investment professionals, based in Toronto and London. Their mandate is to produce absolute and uncorrelated returns by investing in various strategies, adding diversification to the larger investment OTPP portfolio.
As part of a dynamic trading floor environment, every day you will be able to interact and work with other teams in Capital Markets, leveraging the expertise of high performing investment professionals.
What you'll do:
Accurately monitor and report on key drivers of risk/exposure and profit/loss across individual managers, strategies, and the overall Hedge Funds portfolio.
Partner with external providers of technology and tools for analysing position-level data in hedge fund strategies
Use analytical tools to perform advanced analysis that supports strategic portfolio construction and tactical investment decisions
Assist in the due diligence process on external hedge fund managers
Help structure creative solutions to better implement the selected strategies with the guidance of senior investment professionals
Provide regular, high quality inputs to a collegial decision-making process regarding the total Hedge Funds portfolio
Develop analytics, driving meaningful insights and develops recommendations based on the data
What you'll need
Strong academic credential with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related technical discipline (e.g., economics, business, engineering, computer science) finance or business administration
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience at an investment bank, asset manager, hedge fund or fund-of-funds
A passion for technology, data analytics and markets
Ability to model complex strategies
Strong written and oral communication skills and a keen ability to convey technical information visually
Creativity, a strong work ethic, and initiative
Ability to balance competing priorities, work independently, manage projects, and thrive in a high-performance team environment with strict deadlines
Ability to travel, as required
