Are you passionate about technology and education? Ready to shape the future of software engineering and inspire the next generation of tech innovators? Join our Software Engineering & Teaching Programme and enjoy the best of both worlds: working in a cutting-edge industry leader and studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) to become a qualified teacher.

Over 3 years you’ll work at Skyscanner for up to 6 months, then pursue a full-time PDGE course, followed by 3 days at Skyscanner & 2 days teaching per week.  If you want to make a real impact, both in tech and in the classroom, this programme is for you.

What’s in it for you?

  • Education: The opportunity to complete a full-time PGDE in Computer Science course at the University of Glasgow.
  • After the PGDE course: Spend 3 days per week working as part of a dynamic engineering squad at Skyscanner, solving real-world challenges in software development and 2 days per week teaching in a secondary school.
  • Career flexibility: At the end of the programme, choose between advancing your career in industry or stepping into a teaching role to inspire young minds.
  • Mentorship and support from industry professionals and experienced educators.

What we’re looking for:

  • A passion for technology and a keen interest in education.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

As part of the PGDE qualification requirements you need to have:

  • Higher English and Nat 5 maths (or equivalent)
  • A degree with at least 80 SCQF credit points, 40 of these credit points must be at Year 2 Level.  The 80 credit points should be from at least two of the following:
  • Computer Systems
  • Software Development
  • Databases
  • Information Systems
  • You will also need 40 SCQF credits in a computing subject relevant to the Computing curriculum taught in Scottish schools.
