The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) is a private American auto insurance company with headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. GEICO is seeking an experienced Business Manager to support the Chief Technology Office in the San Francisco Bay Area .  

 

This role will report to the Head of Strategy & Operations and will be part of the Technology organization. Based on an end-to-end understanding of the business, the CoS will partner with the business leaders and other key partners to manage priorities and provide actionable business insights to enable effective decision-making. The role is dedicated to supporting the Personal Auto Lines organization in driving, coordinating, and executing work that is critical to the day-to-day running of the business. The CoS will build and leverage positive working relationships that 

  

Responsibilities: 

  • Run high visibility projects, ranging from operational efficiency, change management, analytic deep dives, team off-sites, and annual planning. 

  • Manage and triage the workflow. Prioritize, delegate, and complete work. 

  • Enable the team to prioritize and get after what is the most impactful for our internal customers and identify any roadblocks that might get in the way. 

  • Ensure the team is a smoothly running engine, with team wellness and high engagement at the core, enabling healthy team collaboration, efficient project management, robust data and reporting, and effective stakeholder communication. 

  • Outline overall business priorities, goals and metrics and maintain related progress updates. 

  • In partnership with CITO, manage aspects of regular business reviews, financial/budget updates and other related reports and materials. 

  • Manage business head’s engagement plan including internal and external meetings and related materials; work closely with key functional partners including HR Business Partner and Communications partner. 

  • Own business head’s management team agendas, with a lens on strategic planning and prioritization of topics, desired outcomes and guest participants based on business priorities and with input from key partners. 

  • Track and help execute follow-ups from key meetings. 

  • Support vendor management and related strategy, reviews, decision-making processes 

  • Serve as main point of contact for facilities related matters in GEICO’s Bay Area offices. 

  • Manage a team of 2-4 Executive Assistants responsible for supporting C-level executives. 

  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Finance, Business, Liberal Arts) and 8+ years of experience in financial management, insurance, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, or related role(s). 

  • Effective written and oral communications with ability to story-tell business and financial analytics and build executive-level reports and presentations. 

  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large sets of data. 

  • Self-starter with strong collaboration skills, with proven ability to work across organizational and reporting boundaries to get things done. 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities in fast-paced and ambiguous environment; can adjust priorities, decisions, and actions to respond to multiple demands, unexpected events, and current information daily. 

  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing improvements that drive operational efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Strong Excel and MS Office applications skills with ability to create effective PowerPoint presentations and excel analyses. 

  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in business management or equivalent role in a complex operations organization that spans multiple US and/or international locations. 

  • Experience working strategically and collaboratively across multiple functions. 

  • Experience in diagnosing pain points for teams, moving them to good, and going the extra mile to ensure they are great. 

  • Ability to smooth out collaboration across groups, challenge decisions, question judgment, and voice concerns. 

  

Location: This is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days per week in Bay Area (Palo Alto & San Francisco - office will open within 3-6 months, candidate will work remotely until then) 


 

Annual Salary

$99,802.95 - $163,456.80

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
