The Facilities O&M Instrumentation/Fire Systems Supervisor at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for leading and developing technicians that are responsible to service, maintain, troubleshoot, modify and repair components and equipment for facilities fire alarm, instrumentation, and DDC systems for the entire site.  Preferred work history should include PC based PLC, DDC, Fire (EST Edwards) and DCS control systems.  Also, the Instrumentation/Fire Systems supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the Compliance Engine software with Boise city

Supervisors are responsible for providing a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment by maintaining current technical knowledge, supervising for compliance, and actively resolving potential issues.  Overseeing and improving area performance by managing staffing, distributing and prioritizing work, and ensuring communication and training completion on safety, legal, and work requirements. They conduct performance appraisals with team members to create goals and development plans that enhances the team members skills and abilities. Other responsibilities include promoting collaboration by supporting, leading, and participating in department and area improvement projects.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Safety & Quality:

  • Ensures the team completes of all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies
  • Stops work for safety if unsafe conditions and/or behaviors are identified
  • Uses and reviews job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performed in their area
  • Ensures the team follows all safety and environmental procedures in compliance with applicable regulations including PPE, CoHe (lockout /tagout) and chemical safety
  • Follows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with team members
  • Actively participates in the EHS program by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problems immediately (maximum 24 hours)
  • Performs and facilitates audits and submits good catches
  • Ensures team always wears appropriate PPE, per JHA, manager, EHS professionals, and/or job designation
  • Proactively finds opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environment.
  • Ensures the use of proper lifting techniques and work is performed in an ergonomically correct manner
  • Follows proper change management practices to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
  • Drives quality improvement initiatives in their area to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and identify cost savings
  • Ensures the operation and maintenance of equipment and tools are within manufacturer’s and company guidelines to drive safety and quality expectations
  • Ensures area-specific procedures, documentation, training and certifications are accurate and updated in a timely manner

  

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Provides team with consistent communication on priorities, goals, performance metrics, company updates, and department expectations to ensure understanding and line of sight
  • Meets face to face with their team and other partners regularly to gather input and build rapport
  • Collaborates with crucial team members to resolve equipment/process issues, enhance system stability, and drive improvements
  • Attends and participates in meetings and provides input
  • Promotes collaboration and team building across groups and/or shifts
  • Ensures pass down is accurate and reflects the current work status
  • Proactively communicates issues that could cause manufacturing or customer impact
  • Communicates proactively with leaders and team members on the daily priorities and issues

Performance Management:

  • Understands all expectations of the team and holds them accountable
  • Owns and is accountable for the performance and behavior of the area
  • Ensures team members complete all assigned tasks to meet critical deadlines
  • Complete to area, goal and performance achievements and metrics
  • Defines and communicates organizational roles and job descriptions to meet the overall expectations of the team 
  • Coaches and develops team and team members
  • Is responsible for workforce readiness and proficiency by developing effective training plans and mentors
  • Meets regularly with new hires to ensure expectations are understood and training is progressing successfully
  • Meets regularly with team members to review performance, provide feedback and create development plans.
  • Partners with team members to create challenging performance & development goals
  • Partners closely with HR partners and knows Micron policies
  • Ensures the area has succession plans for all key positions
  • Provides guidance to identify, develop and promote technical expertise (process, device, equipment, etc.) and innovation
  • Recognizes and rewards team members both privately and publicly for their successes
  • Possesses high energy and a vision for the future with a growth mindset and is a viable candidate for future succession planning over the next ten years
  • Establishes a succession plan for all critical positions

     Area/Technical Performance:

  • Maintains applicable subject area and technical knowledge to make informed decisions and drive area improvements
  • Ensures team maintains required certifications and training to perform area tasks
  • Ensures team completes assigned PMs and work orders in a timely and thorough manner
  • Ensures team maintains equipment and tools in working order
  • Ensures accurate records are maintained on testing and calibrations of equipment
  • Assists with installation, modification, maintenance and/or removal of facilities equipment
  • Develops procedures and training to ensure team performs the work safely, correctly and consistently.
  • Accountable for the area/shift performance and drives team accountability
  • Monitors equipment and area performance to resolve issues and enhance area stability
  • Ensures team identifies and reduces equipment defects to improve quality
  • Uses a systematic problem-solving technique to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Ensures team identifies and resolves chronic equipment alarm issues
  • Identifies and leads projects to improve area and equipment performance
  • Assigns team members new assignments
  • Leads shift/area cost reduction activities
  • Drives a culture of Safety and Quality including TPM, Facilities Disciplines, PM procedures and certifications
  • Maintains applicable subject area knowledge, such as data communications, instrumentation theory, and calibration theory

       Project Management/Planning:

  • Supports or leads area projects to ensure results are completed within required scope and schedule
  • Participates or leads project meetings and completes assigned actions
  • Partners with leader to prioritize project action items
  • Supervises actions and provides issue path to ensure actions will be completed on time
  • Follows proper business processes for maintaining, installing, modifying, or removing facilities equipment

       Successful Candidates must have the following Qualifications:

  • Proven success in applying area processes and equipment knowledge to make informed decisions
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated success in motivating and maintaining morale of a team

        Education and Experience:

  • Required:  Minimum – Relevant degree (AAS) or appropriate certifications/licensing
  • Preferred: 5 years demonstrated ability
