Job Summary:

As an Engineering Project Team Leader you will manage multiple or complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, or value chains.

What you will do:

• Lead LWL/WDC Project Engineer for Fabrications and Axles
• NPI: Engage in NPI to Champion DFx and carryover understanding into new Product & Process design.
• Develop project scope and lead projects to address Value Chain challenges and opportunities, with emphasis on DFx to support Operational Excellence and electrification, which could include field validations.
• Review LWL factory investments and make decisions/recommendations in alignment with LWL OIA strategy.
• Lead factory value stream capacity validation for LWL/WDC within Fabrications, as input to EPP, factory investment and LWL strategy.
• Coordinating resources across the businesses with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.
• Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
• Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

Degree Requirement

• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science curriculum or equivalent.

• Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects.
• Monitors industry for fresh approaches and tools for project management.
 

Troubleshooting Technical Problems:
• Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.
• Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.
• Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.
• Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi-vendor environment.
• Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.
• Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

Product Design and Development:
• Develops organizational standards and processes in order to maximize complex product services' efficiency and effectiveness.
• Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.
• Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.
• Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.
• Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.
• Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.

Additional Information:

• The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
• Domestic relocation assistance is available
• This position may require 10% travel

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
