Your Opportunity

The Regional Controller is responsible for overseeing financial records within Smithfield’s Hog Production.  This role has primary responsibility for management of all accounting records, designs and implements budgetary and other systems for internal control and prepares financial reports for management and shareholders. Ideal candidate is detail oriented, skilled in interpreting data, proficient in cost accounting and a good communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Responsibilities:

    • Reports Financials in an accurate & timely manner complying with all internal and external financial practices.

    • Provides Profit/Loss Estimates.

    • Keeps up-to-date on the financial market to make recommendations on how to maximize profits.

    • Prepares & Distribute Monthly Income Statements and Balance Sheets.

    • Directs and Assist in Annual Budgets.

    • Ensures inventory valuations and costing principles adhered to.

    • Develops and recommends broad financial policies and exercise control over all finance and accounting functions of the company.

  • Regional Team:

    • Assists in Financial decisions.

    • Analyzes  KPI’s and Financial Statements and advises management of cost savings opportunities.

    • Advises on changes in regulations, rules, systems.

  • Management / Other responsibilities:

    • Supervises & trains staff in the effective performance of duties and responsibilities.

    • Participate in regular meetings.

    • Prepare required regulatory reports.

    • Manage external and internal audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 5+ years of professional accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership is required.

  • Certified Public Accountant, preferred.

  • Knowledge of accounting software, contact management systems, inventory software, manufacturing software, and Microsoft Office, specifically advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including use of pivot tables and analytical tools.

  • Solid understanding of cost accounting concepts.

  • E1 and Insight experience, preferred.

  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Requires flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team.

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
