Do you have a passion for continuous improvement and collaboration? As part of a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals, you will provide the technical support necessary to ensure reliable and efficient operations. You will provide solutions to chronic equipment problems and initiate or participate in failure studies of stationary and rotating equipment. You will also analyze equipment performance reports to identify and implement opportunities for improvement so that the reliability of your area is not only maintained, but increased.In this role you will identify opportunities to maximize asset availability, provide solutions to chronic equipment problems, and reduce cost, while operating safely and meeting Suncor technical standards. You will be an integral member of our maintenance reliability group at our Montreal refinery, where you will be responsible for rotating and stationary equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
Fifteen or more years of work experience in heavy industrial settings, or equivalent
Fluent in French and have a working knowledge of written and spoken English (Please submit your resume in French)
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible to quickly become a member
In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment
Knowledge of stationary equipment would also be considered an asset
Technical knowledge and knowledge of applicable engineering standards would also be considered an asset (ex. API, ASME Sec VIII, B31.3, etc.)
Dedication to employee health and safety and the environment
Strong leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills
Organizational and priority management skills and knowledge of appropriate documentation standards
Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a customer-focused approach
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an aptitude for self-directed learning
A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical assistance to the operation in collaboration with various technical groups
Provide technical expertise to operations regarding technologies and methods for improving equipment reliability
Lead multi-disciplinary problem-solving groups on equipment and operations
Apply appropriate equipment operating condition detection techniques (vibration analysis, multivariate trending, infrared, ultrasonic, etc.)
Compile a list of repetitive failures and remedy their causes through the application of failure analysis techniques
Act as technical expert for field maintenance personnel during repair work
Assist our maintenance and major unit shutdown groups in the process of identifying, planning and executing equipment work
Generate notices for repairs/improvements, temporary installations, etc.
Provide project definition assistance, drawing review and deficiency item tracking to capital project managers

You will work out of our Montréal office, located at 11701 Sherbrooke Street East
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
