About our team:

We are a native mobile team in the growth organization. The mobile Marketing team is lean team of 3 engineers for both platforms, and we are looking for an android engineer to join our team. Our remit includes driving marketing experiences, push notifications experience, subscription management for push, email preferences, deep linking, and analytics, install tracking, dedication management, and notification inbox. We use Kotlin, with over 99% of code being modularised. We care about code quality. Our large, and small test code coverage percentage is over 70%, and we have adopted Jetpack Compose in many of our screens

Job Requirements:

  • 3 - 6 years of experience developing Android applications, with deep experience in both Kotlin and Java

  • Strong experience unit testing and functional UI testing with JUnit / Espresso as well as using dependency injection with Dagger or Hilt

  • Experience with IDEs (e.g. Android Studio), profilers, debuggers, revision control systems (e.g. GIT) and bug tracking (e.g. Jira)

  • Experience with modern clean architecture patterns such as MVC, MVP, MVVM, MVI

  • Experience with Jetpack libraries such as LiveData, DataBinding, ViewModel, etc

  • Experience of working with Jetpack Compose is a plus

  • Proficient in SOLID principles

  • Ability to collaborate and drive standard processes with engineers from numerous teams

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Experience working with services teams to craft efficient mobile services contracts

Role Responsibilities

  • Own the development and optimization of eBay Native apps, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.

  • Work closely with multi-functional partners to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

  • Ensure security standard processes are coordinated into our development and deployment processes.

  • Stay informed of new technologies, industry standards, and architectural standard methodologies.

  • Lead by example, giving high-quality code reviews, and encouraging a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and drive adoption of technical patterns that significantly improved engineering practices across the organization.

  • Strong sense of ownership, accept differences and disagreement to get things done and move forward.

  • Deeply care about growing others, phenomenal at mentoring and coaching.
