In service of this goal, we have a high visibility, high impact product management role in Privacy and Compliance, which will put you at the center of some of the company’s most complex challenges and investments. You will find yourself collaborating with cross-functional leaders across Product, Operations, Engineering, Data, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Legal to craft a product strategy and roadmap for execution or aligning various cross-functional teams in support of companywide responses to regulatory obligations. With deep expertise in Privacy, Consent Management, Data Governance, Regulatory Compliance, and Security, you will shape the product direction and develop systems, tooling and best practices frameworks to allow the business to execute strategic goals at pace whilst staying on top of our obligations.

Join our team as a Principal Product Manager for Privacy and Compliance, reporting to the VP of Product Management for Strategic and Emerging Products, to instill responsible data practices and ensure we are meeting our regulatory obligations with increasing efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Captain strategic direction by negotiating approaches with executives and cross-functional partners
  • Craft the Privacy and Compliance roadmap, developing an execution plan with cross-functional partners, and ensuring we meet deadlines without affecting the company’s ability to execute on wider product goals
  • Operate in a high-pressure environment and ambiguous problem space to establish direction and set course for impactful outcomes with clear plans
  • Accelerate our ability to meet privacy and compliance commitments by developing strategies that contemplate upcoming regulatory changes
  • Support product teams in navigating complex subject matter and help making tradeoffs in decision making
  • Identify and execute upon opportunities to create efficiencies through centralized tooling, systems and best practices frameworks
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve the product organization’s privacy and compliance culture and practices

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management or equivalent, of which at least 5 years were in a capacity as expert individual contributor or an Executive in Privacy and Compliance
  • Lead product development with broad, cross-functional team to drive vision, define product requirements, and coordinate resources from other groups to successfully guide the team through key milestones
  • Demonstrated skill in effective collaboration with, influencing and presenting to executive level stakeholders (VP and up)
  • Experience working with a highly ambiguous and complex set of topics to craft and drive a clear strategy and executing against your plan at pace in a dynamic environment
  • Proven experience in identifying company strategic opportunities and driving product vision, strategies and roadmaps that unlock them
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate your point of view to various audiences within the company and externally

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS         

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management or equivalent, of which at least 5 years were in a capacity as expert individual contributor or an Executive in Privacy and Compliance
  • Deep understanding of Privacy, Regulatory Compliance, Security, Consumer Product development, and Data strategies

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base compensation for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.

USD $172,260.00 - $321,420.00 annually
