About R&D Tech

GSK R&D is led by science and is extending our portfolio of products at pace with ever-increasing variance and complexity. R&D Tech has a critical part to play in building modern digital and data analytics platforms, working closely with internal and external partners and regulators. This presents an opportunity for Tech to make a difference via investing in modern platform technologies and digital applications across GSK’s Research Development organisation.

Currently we’re looking for a Senior Manager, Product Owner whose role will be primarily assigned to work in RMA domain, but it will be supporting other function such as OCMO and GQA.

The Records Management & Archiving (RMA) department leads a future-ready Records Management and Archiving Governance and Service Model in R&D to assure the long-term preservation, integrity, and accessibility of the unique and proprietary evidence of our science and to demonstrate compliance with internal and external recordkeeping obligations.

The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) is a function within R&D that supports the internal oversight of GSK’s responsibilities to protect patients. This includes the transparency and disclosure of GSK’s R&D activity, delivery of scientific publications and the compassionate use of medicines.

The Global Quality Assurance (GQA) this department is responsible for ensuring that all processes and products meet the necessary standards of quality, safety, and efficacy. They would oversee compliance with internal policies and external regulations, conduct audits, and implement corrective actions when necessary.

This Product Owner role is part of the R&D Digital and Tech organisation that partners with the RMA function to identify and deliver the portfolio of systems that support its business goals.

Senior Manager, Product Owner – Tech Development

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Partnering – Building strong relationships with key business stakeholders on an intimate knowledge of the domain’s business strategy and the potential of the emerging technology environment.
  • Strategy Development – Developing and maintaining the 3-year technology roadmap for the domain by driving the identification and prioritisation of opportunities, and development of robust business cases to obtain funding to deliver against it.
  • Project Management – driving the delivery of agreed products and initiatives, effectively managing trade-offs, and resolving issues to ensure on-time delivery of business value. Leading other GSK staff and overseeing engagements with 3rd party system integrators. Ensuring adherence to expectations of internal policies and practices and external regulatory and statutory requirements such as GxP.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Degree level education (or equivalent) with relevant large Pharma R&D technology experience, e.g.  Product Management for large pharma Development solutions or similar global organisation
  • Track record in successful Tech strategy development and delivery, solution design, programme / project delivery and service management, managing budgets (£1m + p/a)
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to influence sr. leadership and decision-making using data and market evidence.
  • Relentlessness in delivering business outcomes, value and simplification with a passion for science and advancing medicines and vaccines to patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Deep understanding of medicine and vaccine development processes, solutions, and industry regulations.
  • Experience of applying Agile and DevOps methodologies in an environment governed by Pharma industry GxP and computer systems validation regulations.
  • Track record of identifying innovative technology solutions and driving them through to implementation and delivery of business value.
