Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant 2 with Accounts Payable. This position will maintain accurate files for incoming invoices and statements to match electronically to blanket purchase orders, ad hoc payments, supplier invoice requests, generate, process, and distribute checks, handle incoming and outgoing departmental mail following established A/P procedures, assure expenditures follow established policies and procedures.
This Accounting Assistant 2 will audit and review vendor statements and reconcile outstanding charges, contact and work with vendors to reverse errors on statements, review complex discrepancies, assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures, serve as a liaison to BCN Purchasing, assist departments in interpreting the accounts payable and purchasing process, and other duties as needed.
This position will establish and maintain excellent working relationships with administration, faculty, staff, students, departments, state agencies, and external suppliers.

Required Qualifications
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 25 (Entry, Step 01 $20.42/hr – Step 03, $22.13/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
