The Role: 

 

The Medcan Client Care Centre, Memberships Team is hiring an Operations Excellence Intern to analyze and improve the client experience for Year-Round-Care clients. The goal of the intern is to support internal operations with creating and implementing best practices that will improve processes within the team and across the organization. This will include mapping the experience, identifying opportunities to improve and implementing standards to guide teams in achieving client experience and retention outcomes.  

Our paid internship program gives students practical work experience, learning and development workshops, social outings, and an opportunity to network with our leadership team. You will be an active participant in designated projects and tasks, and be a member of a highly collaborate team.

 

The Accountabilities: 

 

Process Mapping & Continuous Improvement  

  • Create a process map for the Year Round Care client journey 

  • Identify pain-points along the journey by surveying and speaking with membership (nurses, coordinators), product, and marketing associates 

  • Prioritize opportunities for improvements 

  • Create a process map for Single Point of Contact (SPOC) opportunity in Dedicated Care and MCare 

  • Identify pain-points along the journey by surveying and speaking with membership (nurses, coordinators), product, and marketing associates 

  • Prioritize opportunities for improvements 

 

Standards and Best Practice Identifying and documenting 

  • Build out new best practice and standards in the team 

  • Support collecting and identifying best practices by speaking with coordinators and nurses across the membership team. Document the best practices. 

 

The Requirements: 

  • Current 3rd or 4th year student in Health Sciences, Data Analysis, Business Administration or related field with exposure to clinical research and qualitative and/or quantitative analysis and/or data analysis 

  • Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills 

  • Intermediate level in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook 

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset 

  • Experience as a Research Assistant in some capacity is an asset 

 

This is a winter internship opportunity expected to run full-time from January 6, 2025 to April 25, 2025. You will work 5 days/week between Monday to Friday during regular business hours, and must be able to work at 150 York St. on a hybrid basis.
