At Caterpillar’s Tucson Proving Ground (TPG), we test large mining and heavy construction machines to ensure that we deliver a quality product to our customers. Caterpillar is on an exciting electrification transition and TPG is at the forefront of this journey. As a Senior Operation Manager, you will manage the day-to-day operation of over 75 individuals on all shifts of a large validation and testing facility.
What you will do:
• Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management teams.
• Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that safety, and schedules and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively.
• Driving improvements for overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
• Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.
Degree Requirement:
Engineering Degree or 10-year equivalent experience desired.
What skills you will have:
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing and testing plant.
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.
Top Candidates will also have:
Prior supervisory experience of 3-5 years.
Manufacturing experience including assembly, machining, and fabrication.
Experience with fleet health management for mining equipment.
Familiarity with Lean and continuous improvement tools and analytics.
Familiarity with instrumentation and mining equipment testing and validation
Additional Information:
The primary location for this position is Green Valley, AZ (Tucson Proving Ground).
Domestic relocation assistance is available.
