TEAM OVERVIEW

KKR’s Global Market Operations team is comprised of the Client Services Team (CST), Treasury, Private Market Operations, Data Operations, and Global Credit Investment Operations teams. Overall, the Global Market Operations team is responsible for ensuring compliance and best practices for treasury activities, implementation of technology for process improvements, and identifying value creation opportunities. The team also liaises with clients, internal stakeholders, and team members to communicate relevant issues and solutions effectively and accurately.

The Data Engineering Vertical represents a fresh initiative within Data Delivery department. This vertical is dedicated to the curation of data products, utilizing cutting-edge tools and technologies, particularly focusing on the Snowflake platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with various stakeholders, facilitating a deeper understanding of requirements from both business and data owners across the firm. This role is pivotal in driving the success of our new Data Engineering Vertical and contributing to the firm’s data-driven approach.

POSITION SUMMARY

The role is responsible for executing against a robust data engineering book of work, while establishing scalable & repeatable processes, best practices, and frameworks. They will be part of KKR’s enterprise data group which collects, manages, and harnesses the power of data across our diverse portfolio investments. Data Engineering objectives will be centered around the data model design, and technical implementation/ curation of consumable data sets (i.e. Data Products). The Data Engineering function will execute against KKR’s backlog of outstanding Data Products, which must be expertly crafted to abstract away complexities, easily & intuitively join, and be readily used in enterprise reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data architecture, analytics, and engineering, with a proven track record of developing scalable data solutions. Expertise in Snowflake is essential, as the role requires advanced knowledge of its cloud data platform for seamless integration and management of data processes. Additionally, the candidate must have substantial experience in the financial services sector, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial data and a good understanding of asset management.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Excellence

  • Understand and Analyze: Evaluate the backlog of requested Data Products and design data models that meet business user needs.
  • Design and Curate: Develop Data Products by leveraging industry-standard advanced SQL data concepts (Snowflake)
  • Version Control: Implement state-of-the-art tooling for version control of Data Products (e.g., DBT) and promote them from lower to higher environments.
  • Data Pipelines: Implement data pipelines to source and transform data using KKR's data platform and relevant tools.
  • Data Warehousing: Create custom databases, tables, and views in accordance with Data Warehousing standards (Bronze, Silver, Gold) data layers within Snowflake
  • Good understanding of Snowflake Tasks, Streams, Stored procedures, Snowpark (SQL & Python), Time travel
  • Domain Knowledge: Maintain a solid understanding of alternative asset management domains, including Real Estate, Private Equity, and Credit, Infrastructure,
  • Ability to partner with business stakeholders, Data Owners to understand requirements.
  • Register Data Product in KKR’s data platform

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with engineering and IT to support and make recommendations to achieve operational excellence via Automation
  • Communicate and work closely with relevant teams (Data Owners, Stewards) to close data gaps in a clear and timely manner
  • Serve as point of contact for data-related questions and updates from various internal and external groups, delivering ad-hoc analytics to answer key business questions in a timely manner

Reporting & Governance

  • Design and document standard operating procedures for data management
  • Implement and own best in class data governance practices; ensuring that data is well defined & transparently documented

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of data engineering experience; with proven experience curated data-sets & building Data Products
  • Experience in a multinational Financial Services organization and/or Private Equity preferred
  • Ability to manage standard reports, templates & dashboard.
  • Ability to validate and review data from a variety of different domains
  • Ability to provide support for internal stakeholders by sending reminders of emails, filling timesheets, collecting information as per service requests
  • Ability to adhere to the compliance requirements of processes
  • Ability to develop and enhance data protection and management tools or applications
  • Ability to design and execute data management focusing on data governance and data quality activities.
  • Systems/ Tools/ Application knowledge:
  • Proficiency in data operations and data management
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience in Python/Other Programming language is mandatory
