Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Space and Launch Division seeks an Engineering Support professional to serve as Associate Mission Planner and Associate Mission Operation Controller on our team in Herndon, Virginia.

The Space and Launch Organization works with customers creating next-generation technologies in space.   We focus on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  Our team addresses all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.  Duties of this position include working within and supporting proprietary areas.

Position Overview:

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to train and certify on a complex system to include scheduling resources, maintenance, user support, collaboration, and system expertise to meet program requirements.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues following defined procedures and escalate as required.
  • Recognize and document system discrepancies.
  • Identify and propose opportunities for system improvement.
  • Coordinate, update, and create necessary processes and documentation.  Participate in the development of engineering processes, methods, and tools that facilitate planning.
  • Collaborate with other teams and professionals.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively in writing and in live presentation to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Understand and support customer needs and priorities.

This position is expected to be fully onsite in Herndon, VA.

This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Willingness to successfully complete a Proprietary Certification program which requires a combination of self-study and on-the-job (OJT) training.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience building customer relationships.
  • Experience with space and satellite systems.
  • Demonstrates strength in attention to detail.
  • Experience adjusting to ever changing priorities.
  • Experience working in UNIX and Windows environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Typical Education/Experience

Associate (level 2):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).

Experienced (level 3):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

Shift Work Statement:

This position is for 1st shift but will require occasional compensated ad hoc support after hours as needed.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: 

Associate (level 2):  78,200 – 105,800.

Experienced (level 3):  96,600 – 133,400
