Position Description

This position is an integral part of Finance Controllership team supporting all business units & legal entities in Japan. This individual will be a key resource for the day-to-day general accounting for internal & external reporting. The candidate will also have an opportunity to contribute a full range of accounting & financial practices in the team such as maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and contributing to the overall financial process of the organization including supporting the global team to facilitate the end-to-end Accounts Payable, reimbursement process and ensuring all payments are properly processed and paid in timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly and year end closing by preparing and reviewing journal entries using the accounting system “Oracle”.
  • Prepare and support reporting of all financials (BS, PL, etc.) with a sufficient explanation.
  • Provide financial analysis to support local management for any strategic decision-making.

Tax Filing, Audits & Compliance Support:

  • Support timely completion of statutory audit and tax filling for national & local tax returns such as corporate tax, consumption tax, enterprise tax, property tax, and business office tax.
  • Prepare and support any regulatory reporting to authorities.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial policies and procedures.

Collaboration:

  • Support any Global/APAC/Local finance projects roll out for Japan.
  • Support Global teams for payments, reimbursement, cash reconciliation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Global & APAC Finance members.

Qualifications

  • Language Ability: Must have native level Japanese to conduct business locally and business English to interact with Global & APAC teams.
  • Communication: Speak with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational background and discuss variety of job-related topics on short or no notice.
  • Functional and Business Knowledge: Applies general knowledge of financial and tax principles developed through education or experience (CPA or CPTA holder has an advantage).
  • Problem Solving: Solves a range of straightforward problems and analyses possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Minimum and Preferred Education: Bachelor’s level education.
  • Minimum and Preferred Experience/Skills: 2 + years experiences in Finance field.
  • Team Player and must have ability to work in a diversified environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting system (Oracle experience would be an advantage)
