Job Description
The opportunity
Refine and uplift the AML/KYC procedures to fulfil all requirements and efficiently implement these procedures:
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert to provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders over requirements of associated Know-Your-Client (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing Terrorist (CFT) regulations and internal policies
- Ensure that the firm’s and relevant regulatory requirements are documented and complied with
- Establish effective procedures and manuals for handling varies activities, including enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring referencing these policies
- Support the build of systems and the automation of workflows to achieve the target operating model
Train team members on following relevant procedures:
- Act as a role model to drive high quality output. Provide guidance and training to team members to foster an environment of performance excellence and continuous improvement
- As subject matter expert on AML/KYC-related matters, provide guidance and support to colleagues in the AML/KYC review processes
- Maintain a current understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practices, criminal typologies and developing trends. Assist in identifying systemic procedural weaknesses and additional training enhancements for the team members
Conduct daily AML/KYC activities:
- Engage as primary interface with internal stakeholders like Compliance, LOB Operations, Operational Risk etc as well as external stakeholders like service providers, which requires the highest standards of service with clear transparent communication in particular articulating requirements, time commitments, challenges, facilitating issues/queries resolutions
- Deliver a high and consistent standard of service by reviewing and approving retail client onboarding, performing accurate name screening and transaction monitoring and addressing any system alerts
- Make decisions that are appropriate and well-grounded based on data-analytics, guidelines, policies, and insights and conduct investigations or enhanced due diligence reviews on higher risk customers or suspicious activities
- Initiate effective escalations of any potential risks or concerns discovered during the review process to the appropriate stakeholders and management
- Prepare related management and regulatory reports for review outlining the depth of investigation activity, risk assessment and recommended remediation actions
- Ensure accurate case management and record keeping protocols are maintained with regards to regulatory filing requirements
- Support regulatory surveys, risk assessments, compliance reviews, quality assurance activities on regular or ad-hoc request basis
- Formulate and follow through with the implementation of remediation action plans to support closure of internal and external audit observations
- Review and identify changes in AML regulations, assessing potential impact on existing policies/procedures and implementing changes to ensure ongoing compliance
- Support broader Operations team functions, if required.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree and/or associate degree plus equivalent combination of education, additional certification and/or experience
- 1 - 3 years of working experience in financial services or Asset Management operations is preferred
- Demonstrated high proficiency in KYC and AML regulatory and procedural knowledge
- Attention to detail, effective analytical skills and ability to learn to navigate multiple systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate complex issues and circumstances to all levels of staff and management, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong time management with ability to take responsibility and operate independently to ensure that compliance objectives are achieved
