We are a global team of engineers responsible for supporting 24x7 availability of all the datacenter infrastructure, tools and services that other expedia applications team use every day to create and deploy applications to this environments. We support/manage many of the technologies used for virtual machine creation and management, physical datacenter services, deploying and handling k8s clusters in our infrastructure as a code (EKS-anywhere) and many more Tools and Services you will encounter along the way: AWS eks-anywhere, Backstage, GitHub, Artifactory, vEenters, ESXi, vmAria, Cisco Intersight, Datadog, etc.

The HIPS ( hybrid infra and platform Support) team works closely with other Infrastructure and cloud team to expand our knowledge base with an eye towards continuous improvement, self-serve capabilities, and an excellent customer experience.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with multiple infrastructure team and vendors to assess, troubleshoot, and resolve issues from commit through production deployment

  • Own and manage support requests through to resolution and to the customer's satisfaction

  • Communication clear and concise answers to complex technical questions Collaborate with team members and across teams to improve our Infrastructure engineering experience

  • Participate in the development of documentation, process, and automation to support the growth of developer self-service Identify areas of improvement and help drive to solutions

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 3+ years engineering experience in 24*7 on-call infrastructure support model with incident response type environment

  • Demonstrated ability to expertly navigate major incident pressures and use times of stability to drive improvements and solve problems

  • Experience in administration, supporting and upgrading of virtual machines infrastructure using vmware vCenter, ESXis and vm Aria

  • Hands on experience on Datacenter services management with Cisco hyperflex, Cisco UCS or Cisco Intersight

  • Good understanding of Windows/Linux server level operating systems and other Networking concepts like Load Balancer / Firewall concepts

  • Understanding of CI/CD and devops technologies including GitHub, Docker, kubernetes

  • Understanding of configuration management tools like chef, CINC, ansible Ability to troubleshoot large, complex systems with an eCommerce emphasis Effectively communicate technical issues with multiple IT vendors e.g Cisco, Vmware, AWS etc

  • knowledge of ITIL V3, Agile, Lean practices preferred

  • Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Familiarity with distributed systems in cloud, such as: AWS , Azure

  • Coding/scripting skills to automate manual efforts using shell, bash, python is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
