Senior Manager, Technical Program Management
Introduction to the team
The Distribution & Supply Tech organization at Expedia Group develops and maintains scalable, high-performing back-end systems for the Reservations, Inventory, Pricing, and Offers domains. The Technical Program Management team drives critical programs in collaboration with engineering and product teams across multiple global locations powering key traveler and supplier experiences. This team ensures the timely delivery of high-impact programs, supporting seamless experiences across all Expedia Group brands and partnerships with air, lodging, and car suppliers worldwide.
As a Senior Manager of Technical Programs, you will lead a team of 6-8 Technical Program Managers in the coordination, structure, tracking, communications and delivery of key business decisions and initiatives for Distribution & Supply. You will take a balanced approach to providing guidance and expectations while simultaneously empowering team members to be accountable and make decisions.
In this role, you will:
You will support the team to establish working relationships with stakeholders and build rapport to become a trusted advisor
You will coach the team to design differentiated technical communications (content focus, style, presentation, etc.) for various internal and external audiences based on an understanding of their differing levels of familiarity with technical language
You will evaluate the progress of projects within the portfolio and work with the team to mitigate issues and risks to ensure portfolio health including managing the actual or potential gaps in resourcing for projects and recommending strategies to mitigate
You will manage project portfolio and participate in prioritization decisions, portfolio health and managing the governance structure
You will craft the culture of your team by building team rituals, processes and practices that build strong team bonds and an open trusting environment where diverse viewpoints, opinions, and approaches and candid conversations and critiques can happen
You will evaluate the full complement of team talent, identify gaps, and implement action plans to fill gaps and drive achievement of goals
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.), or MBA, or equivalent professional experience; MBA is a plus
Experienced people manager with a proven track record of leading teams responsible for complex programs across multiple portfolios
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, with a solid history of managing performance and mentoring team members across locations
Ability to define team goals aligned with broader business objectives, fostering collaboration across multiple teams
Strong collaboration skills with product teams to influence and deliver on product roadmaps
Expertise in technical areas such as architecture, testing, monitoring, data access patterns, and streaming technologies
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
