Job Description:

About the role:

The Performance Reporting Team is the operational, analytical and central hub for performance and attribution calculation, reporting and data quality.  Reporting to the Director of Performance and Attribution, and partnering with business and functional leaders within Portfolio Management, Product, Institutional etc., the incumbent is expected to handle day-to-day performance and attribution related activities for our mutual and segregated funds. In addition, significant time will be spent on long term projects to enhance the team’s efficiencies, as well as analytical and delivery capabilities.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for the performance and attribution calculation process, ensuring it is accurate and reports are delivered on time.
  • On-going development and enhancement of our performance data, calculation, validation and delivery infrastructure through automation.
  • Maintain all performance related data in our systems and platforms.
  • Resolve any performance related issues.
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders on reports.
  • Work with technical teams/ vendors to configure and test our internal reporting systems; developing tests and automating control checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information being used to calculate performance related analytics.
  • Participate in performance related projects; other duties as required.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in an asset management role with exposure to performance, risk, analytics and/or operations
  • Degree in business, math, computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Working towards CFA and/or CIPM.
  • Proficient in SQL, and databases
  • Knowledge of ETL, Python, visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Familiarity with various financial asset classes.
  • Experience building out data quality workflows, either internally or using 3rd party tools.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills to set short-term priorities while working under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve and use a commonsense approach.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
