What we need 

We are seeking a Director of Project management who will partner with cross-functional leaders and our customers to plan and implement automation solutions at client sites. As the Director you will lead the team to drive and execute custom site installation project plans while managing mitigation of issues and risks. You will lead the team, and own vendor and custom site relationships to drive project by ensuring smooth and successful, meeting its objectives and delivering value to the organization.

Our Project Management team plays a critical role in technical automation projects, ensuring that the project is successfully executed, on time, and within budget. They serve as a key liaison between technical teams, stakeholders, and management, ensuring that the project is executed smoothly and successfully, meeting its objectives and delivering value to the organization.  

 

What you’ll do 

  • Partner with the customer and cross-functional leaders to understand customer site contracts thoroughly and manage project metrics, quality, schedule, cost, project risk/opportunity, safety and customer satisfaction. 

  • Manger and facilitate timely information flow between customers and internal teams regarding project cost, schedule updates, and potential risks. 

  • Lead team in forecasting risks and developing comprehensive work plans to address project site issues promptly.

  • Proactively identify and quantify contract issues, both internally and externally, facilitating clear communication to all stakeholders while managing escalations for upcoming issues by demonstrating the ability to navigate and negotiate changes. 

  • Own and drive overall health of the project acting as the primary customer.

  • Ensure timely communication with internal stakeholders, external contractors, partner suppliers and internal factories.  

  • Present summary of schedule updates, wins, risk, opportunity and cost each week level for Symbotic leadership and site customers.  

  • Ensure that all direct reports adhere to company processes, fostering a culture of consistency and efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance internal processes, contributing to a positive working environment. 

 

What you’ll need 

  • Bachelors degree in Managment or Engineering discipline required 

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of Project/Program Management expertise, functioning well in large-scale, complex, cross-functional programs integrating hardware, software, and controls. 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct people management experience   

  • Experience with material handling or industrial/robotic automation is preferred 

  • Experience running projects using agile development principles, with knowledge of industry standard tools and best practices. 

  •  Experience with helping or driving groups to migrate from waterfall, or combine with agile/Scrum is a plus. 

  • Strong negotiation and relationship skills, both in directing the technical team and ability to manage and reach solutions to competing priorities. 

  • Proficient in JIRA, MS Project, MS Power Point, MS Excel, Word, and Visio. PMP Certification preferred. 

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, willingness to adapt to change and proceed on decisions made with varying levels of uncertainty. 

  • Experience with using metrics and data analysis to support or drive the right or most beneficial process improvements. 

  • Ultimate team player. Collaborative yet passionate and motivating. 

 

Our Environment 

  • Remote, field-based position.  

  • Travel is required up to 65% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

  • The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis. 

  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  

  • The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  

  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.  

  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).  

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure. 

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.  

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
