What You Will Do:

The Senior Strategic Communications Specialist will be a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced communications professional responsible for developing and executing communications plans in collaboration with team members and other partners to help educate client stakeholders while promoting and enhancing the client’s brand, mission, and desired outcomes. This role will be responsible for creating, integrating, and implementing a broad range of communications activities and products relative to the strategic direction and positioning of a specific project(s) and its stakeholders.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communications programs that effectively engage internal and external audiences as well as describe and promote the client’s organization and its desired outcomes
  • Understand business needs and opportunities to develop communication strategy, communication plan(s), and tactical communications product(s)
  • Proactively provide recommendations to evolve communications and messaging towards the goals of any specific project
  • Leverage data and metrics to measure communications effectiveness, communicate impact, and refine future communications products


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business or business management
  • 5+ years of experience developing communications strategy, plans, and products
  • Experience supporting senior and executive-level client communications and proactively anticipating stakeholder needs
  • Experience developing and implementing communication and stakeholder engagement strategies/plans
  • Experience developing and executing culture change initiatives, staff engagement strategies, along with organizational development and change management activities


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Certification in communications or change management discipline (e.g., CCMP, PROSCI)
  • Federal consulting experience
  • Experience with CDC-specific communications
  • Understanding of public health and clinical laboratory communication styles and preferences
  • Project management experience
  • Experience analyzing large and complex data sets, including a demonstrated thorough aptitude for conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute as a team member: understanding personal and team roles, contributing to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members, and proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback
  • Demonstrated ability identifying and addressing client needs, building relationships with clients, developing requests for information, demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks, and communicating potential conflicts to a supervisor
  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple tasks, researching and analyzing pertinent client, industry and technical matters, and utilizing problem-solving skills to achieve desired outcomes
