Salary Range:

$139,000.00 - $181,000.00

What’s the role?

Etsy is seeking a Marketplace Policy Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for developing and implementing fair, nuanced, and enforceable policies that govern user content and behavior across Etsy's family of brands, including subsidiaries Reverb and Depop.

 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Global Marketplace Policy. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, academic findings, and internal data to inform policy decisions.

  • Develop and refine marketplace policies that align with company goals and stakeholder priorities.

  • Build consensus among diverse stakeholders on optimal policy stances for Etsy, Inc.

  • Perform complex risk tradeoff analyses to ensure our policies effectively balance safety, fairness, growth, and risk. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Trust & Safety, Product, Comms, etc.) to ensure consistent, accurate policy implementation and communication.

  • Manage high-profile policy escalations and respond to enforcement team consultations.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for Etsy's policy ecosystem.
     

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 7+ years of professional experience, with 3+ years of experience developing and implementing platform policies in e-commerce or related fields.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach

  • Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects autonomously across various development stages.

  • Experience building rapport and influencing both technical and non-technical team members to drive alignment across multiple functions.

  • Familiarity with Trust & Safety and content moderation best practices (preferred).
