What You’ll Do
Telstra Marketing Chapter Area oversees Telstra's marketing operations, including brand management, advertising, and product marketing.
As a key leadership role in our agile structure, the Marketing Operations Manager (Marketing Product Owner) sets the vision for the future of the marketing functions, aligned with Telstra Enterprise’s strategic direction. You maximise the value the marketing function delivers to customers and the business while inspiring and empowering the mission to achieve ambitious but realistic objectives.
The Marketing Operations Manager works with the Group Owner – Enterprise Marketing to develop Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and uses broad organisational and deep marketing expertise to describe the Epics that set the objective and direction for the work within a mission.
Key Accountabilities:
Tracking and Reporting:
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and actual performance metrics of the marketing department.
Be responsible for optimising the budget effectively, assessing campaign effectiveness & measuring ROI
Provide deep analytics for market insights, buyer behaviour and market trends and support overall operations in terms of reporting to various key stakeholders across the business.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to provide visibility into marketing performance; including Technology Alliances operational reviews.
Identify and escalate any risks, issues and/or opportunities within business performance, and seek out input from others to solve complex business performance problems.
P&L Management:
Oversee the P&L for the marketing unit, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of all financial metrics.
Programs manage the end-to-end process of alliance investment governance & compliance
Manage the budgeting process, including forecasting, allocation, and reconciliation of expenses.
Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to, maintaining compliance with internal and external guidelines.
Manage the compliance of the various alliance partner funding portals.
Resource Management:
Support marketing missions from an investment standpoint
Effectively track marketing resources to ensure optimal utilisation and efficiency.
Monitor and report on resource utilisation and productivity metrics.
Vendor Management:
Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to secure favourable terms and conditions.
Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or concerns that arise.
Work with the alliance managers to develop Market Development fund plans.
Perform strategic analysis – e.g. review of the vendors, technology alliances
Raise purchasing requests & manage the vendor claim process.
Budget Control:
Develop and implement internal budget controls to ensure responsible spending and cost management.
Track and manage the marketing department’s budget, providing regular updates and reports to senior management.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize budget utilisation.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing operations.
Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key marketing processes.
Scope business improvement opportunities and provide recommendations for consideration that achieve business and customer outcomes, linked to clear financial data, performance and business levers.
Take ownership for developing unique business insights by analysing and forecasting business information and applying your knowledge of business processes and systems to support evolving organisational objectives.
Participate in continuous improvement, transformation and efficiency initiatives by generating business performance insights and preparing performance data that inform recommendations and improvement plans for Telstra
Leverage tried and tested methodologies such as root cause analysis to develop data-driven opportunities for improvement that drive greater levels of business performance.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on marketing goals and objectives.
Communicate marketing performance and financial metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Provide training and support to team members on marketing operations processes and tools.
