Role Summary

Directs program management activities through a team of subordinate managers (or oversees a large team of professionals) who are the primary contacts for internal clients and groups within the organization. Accountable for delivering a business unit strategic objective that is large scale, high value, and complex and requires multiple business unit engagement to successfully achieve objectives. Drives benefit achievement by leading program initiation, planning, and solution design and build and by measuring key performance indicators and solution adoption. Teams are responsible for end-to-end project and program management activities such as reporting, planning, issue/risk identification and tracking, scope and dependency management, estimation and forecasting, client management, relationship management, and other program documentation preparation. Provides oversight to program and project leads within the initiative; resolves any escalated project risks, issues, and dependencies. Manages the overall program, delivering expected value within committed time frames and budget. Contributes to the development of internal protocols and processes used to carry out program management work.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between internal clients and other stakeholders to ensure delivery of large-scale, high-value, and complex initiatives that span multiple business units. Manages communication with the business at a detailed functional level and discusses/resolves issues. Manages client expectations and ensures project delivery conforms with company methodologies. Accountable for multiple programs, consisting of a portfolio of various related programs aimed at delivering a business unit objective. Manages the progress and contributions of program and project managers to ensure all activities deliver expected value within committed time frames. Manages contingencies between multiple programs and monitors interdependencies and synergies where required. Proactively recommends approaches to mitigate contingencies and dependencies within and across programs. May serve as a member of the functional leadership team.
  • Proactively manages a team of project managers. Provides guidance on business and technical subject matter to associates. Implements technical protocols on program plans, budgeting and forecasting models, or resource plans. Monitors market changes and stakeholder needs; recommends plan adjustments to meet changing needs that optimize costs, benefits, and speed of delivery. Collaborates with leaders across the function to develop templates for statements of work, stakeholder management plans, guiding principles, program goals, risks, resource allocation, and roles and responsibilities.
  • Leads status meetings for assigned project portfolios, including reviews of major projects and programs with health issues, portfolio contingencies and interdependencies, change saturation, solution adoption, and benefit attainment. Facilitates risk mitigation and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Recruits, directs, motivates, and develops staff/management team, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth, and their ability to build and sustain a team culture of efficiency and quality. Accountable for the financial and human resources of a large department/multiple departments to include budgeting, staffing resources, etc.
  • Creates project and process specifications integrated with broader functional and business unit strategies. Develops tools and training methods to enable successful execution throughout assigned areas of the business. Trains and coaches sponsors and project teams in execution methodologies and promotes adoption of best practices. Ensures project delivery conforms with company methodologies and standards. Develops and disseminates tools and training to enable superior execution throughout the enterprise.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
  • 8+ years of total relevant work experience and 2+ years of management experience

Preferred:

  • 10+ Years Retirement industry experience
  • Experience managing large scale technology programs/initiatives
  • Experience coordinating 3rd party vendor/provider relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional environment including technology, front office and operational teams

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

$137,000.00 - $234,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
$151,000.00 - $258,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$171,000.00 - $293,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the roleBase salary is only one component of our total compensation packageEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
