Job Purpose

The role will deliver the solution architecture for developing and implementing a system that will meet business needs including gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current business applications in place in order to identify areas in need of improvement. The role will also work collaboratively with the Japan technology delivery and the global IT teams as well as business partners to facilitate designs and ensure that the system architecture is delivered and in alignment with the AIG target architecture & application blueprint.  The ideal candidate can balance tactical and strategic solutions, ensure roadmaps and plans are in place, and deliver solutions to achieve the business and IT strategies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of architecture blueprint and roadmap for insurance core systems in the capability area of Producer Management, Claim, Billing & Collection, and Finance, etc.).
  • Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of new strategic system implementation in the capability area of Producer Management, Claim, Billing & Collection, and Finance, etc.)
  • Perform the architecture governance to assure that the proposed solution is aligned with the target architecture and roadmap.
  • Support alignment between Japan local and global strategies, regulations and standards through strong collaboration and partnership with the technology and business teams.
  • Working with business and other IT stakeholders to understand their needs and to implement the strategies designed to meet those needs.
  • Assessing the system architecture currently in place and working with IT SMEs to recommend solutions to improve it.
  • Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.
  • Work with the global architecture team to adopt the global architecture governance processes in Japan.

Accountabilities:

Requirement Gathering and Analysis

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to gather and understand the business and technical requirements.
  • Analyze business use cases, functional and non-functional requirement to develop the end-to-end level of to-be solution architecture.

Solution Selection

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks and tools that align with AIG’s strategy, target architecture and standard technology stack, etc.

Prototyping

  • Create prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of architectural decisions and gather feedback from stakeholders.

Solution Design

  • Design a robust and scalable solution architecture for the new strategic system implementation project.
  • Define integration strategies for connecting the new strategic system with existing insurance echo systems, such as PAS, ODS, and other downstream systems, etc.

Technical Documentation

  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, design patterns, and guidelines, to facilitate development and maintenance.

Architecture Governance

  • Collaborate with delivery teams to provide technical guidance, ensure adherence to architectural standards, and review code quality.

Security and Compliance

  • Ensure that the new strategic system adheres to industry standards, security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements, such as PCI-DSS.

Performance Optimization

  • Identify performance bottlenecks and design optimizations to ensure the system’s responsiveness and efficiency.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including the global IT team and business stakeholders, to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality solutions.

Required Skills and Experiences

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor of Science Degree – Computer Science or related field

Specific Qualifications

  • Japanese language: N3 & above. English business fluency  

Total Experience

  • Minimum 10+years of experience in IT and minimum 2+ years of experience as a Solution Architect in software development projects.
  • Successful end-to-end software design and implementation experience
  • Good understanding of SDLC and Agile development and should have experience in all the phases of SDLC.
  • Financial Service Industry – Should have a good understanding of critical Insurance business processes.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis and modeling: BPMN (create, read, interpret)
  • Knowledge of UML: Use case (create, read, interpret)
  • Knowledge of data modeling: ERD, and DFD (create, read, interpret)
  • Knowledge of XML, WSDL, UDDI, General Web Services Technologies
  • Knowledge of computing languages including .NET, Java, Angular, JSON, etc.
  • High level understanding of infrastructure, database management technologies, and networking.
  • Experience and knowledge of J2EE, Enterprise Integration technologies (BPM, ESB, MQ, etc.), SOA & Web Services implementation.
