Job Description
Role Overview:
The Brookfield Capital Solutions team is responsible for a variety of deal and market related functions in support of the Credit platform. Strategic objective to procure credit for internal funds and syndicate the excess while protecting credit investor interests.
Capital Solutions interfaces with members of Brookfield’s credit team, key finance and business leaders, portfolio company management and outside service providers (banks, other financial institutions, lenders, investors, credit rating agencies, accounting, and legal advisors).
The VP/SVP will directly syndicate leveraged and opportunistic credit investments across the full spectrum of credit primarily for Brookfield Credit. Reporting to the Managing Partner, Capital Solutions. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in leveraged finance, loan or bond capital markets, loan negotiation, or financial sponsors role at an investment bank or lending platform.
Key Accountabilities:
Over time build relationships with potential buyers of debt to which Brookfield will eventually place
Understand market conditions on “what can be done.”
Coordinate with deal stakeholders (e.g., equity investment team, banks, ratings agencies) as needed to quarterback the process.
Collaborate with investment teams on deal structuring, including critical terms of debt (leverage level, covenants, pricing).
Guide distribution of product across third party relationships.
Manage ongoing, active surveillance of portfolio debt and develop a robust investment reporting process for clients.
Candidate Qualifications/Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related fields with proven academic success
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in leveraged finance, loan or bond capital markets, loan negotiation, or financial sponsors role at an investment bank or lending platform.
Deep rolodex of contacts across financial sponsors, regional and boutique investment banks, alternative asset management firms, and investors
Proven breadth of experience in syndicating credit and leading high performing teams
The candidate must be a top individual contributor, with a robust performance record.
High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and motivation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
